Hello all,

I purchased a VX7000 data cable for my phone but it does not fit. Through forums that I read the VX6000 and VX7000 use the same data cable. In fact the person that I bought the cable from thinks they should be the same. But when you look at the cable you can tell they are two different connectors on the phone. The connector size looks to be the same but the keyways are different. Any ideas on what cable I can buy?

Thanks Steve

The LG6000 and the 7000 use different cables. The 6000 will not work.

Actually the LG VX6000 cable will work for the VX7000. You just have to modify the fitting a bit. Took me about 30 seconds to make it compatible.

Did you just file down the keys on the cable to get it to fit? No problems transferring data?

This much I have figured out but if the trick below does not work, I am looking to try and buy the right cable. Anyone have an idea where to get one? Verizon is going to charge me $39.00 for one.

I have an LG VX7000 and I've been happily using it with a cheap cable I bought on ebay which claimed to be for the 7000, but was just an ordinary 6000 cable (it says LG 6000 right on the connector)...anyway, if you file it down and you're careful not to put it in upside down or break it in half, it works fine.

It's the same wiring and everything, it just doesn't fit because of some plastic in the way. Don't ask me why they did that, but a little filing is all you need to solve your problems!

Hi, I just got an LG VX7000 phone, and I've been trying to read up on methods for transferring data, pictures and tones between the phone and a PC. It sounds like the cables are easy enough to come by (eBay dealers have them for about $2.00 + $7.00 S&H), but what software do you use to communicate between the two? Or does the phone simply show up as another drive (assuming you use Windows)?

I'll keep scanning through the forums here, but any advice will be appreciated.

Thanks,
Salcedo

icon_redface.gif I think I've found my own answer: bitpim.sourceforge.net
From the website, it sounds like it's available for both Windows and Linux. I'll pick up a cable, download the software and try it out.

I plan to get a cable from ebay too. Which vendor did you get yours from? There are about three to choose from and they end up being about $8 including shipping. Certainly beat verizon!

Ive used 3gcables before and they worked just fine for my sanyo 8200's, now I'll probally get one for the vx7000 or 6100 if I decide to keep that one.
