My month old lg vx4500 says "car kit" on the screen and nothing I can do gets it off (yes I turned driving mode off in menu). The result is that I can only hear through an earphone; no ring, no sound from speaker, and no sound through earpiece. Any ideas on how to fix? thanks
Fred
PS - my 10 month old was slobbering on the phone. I am afraid that may have done it.

Insurance Replacement....
Would that help? Did you try disconnecting and reconnecting the battery? If you cant turn off the phone and it's frozen, try the battery.

The answer is in your P.S. Constant "Car" or "Headset" are almost always a sign that the bottom connector has been exposed to & damaged by liquid. Green or brown stuff at the bottom connector would be the clincher.

I had the same problem with my VX8000. It got wet and would either stick on "car kit" or it would say the battery is charging when it wasn't even on the charger. I took the phone apart but didn't see anything I could do inside. So, figured that there had to be some pins in the connector port that I could short out in order to turn off the car kit. I took a very small screwdriver and touched a few pins on the far right side of the port and after a few attempts the car kit turned off and hasn't come back on since.
