i work for attws, and this is what i've got for you:
i don't think the v180 actually has a voice activated dialing capability within the phone.
ATTWS does, however, offer a voicedial feature.
here's come info copied from www.attws.com
------------------
QUESTION: What is VoiceDial?
ANSWER: You speak, it dials. This voice activated dialing service is the easy, convenient way to enjoy hands-free calling. Use your voice to call by name or by number. Just dial #121, say "Call John Smith at work" or "call 888-696-5433" and VoiceDial places the call. You can also manage your address book, customize the service and access VoiceInfo all by using your voice.
------------------
you can use that, there is a monthly charge though.

There is no voice dial button on this phone per say. I have the V180 and use voice dialing.
To use voice dialing you have to enable it under the settings menu then the dailing services menu. Then the phone will ask you to select a numeric number for voice dailing. To place a voice call you must hit the menu key then the number you selected for voice dialing speed key then say the voice tag. This info is in the manual, i had a hard time finding it as well but it's there.

It is a feature of the phone, you should be able to use it without having to get additional service from Att. Just read every thing in the manual, i think it's in the menu details at the end of the english version of the manual.

Actually, you can do a little better than that even. Go into Settings and then Personalize. Choose Home Screen and then Home Keys. On my phone, I assigned Voice Dial to the Right Soft Key. Now all I have to do is open the phone and hit one key and say the name to dial.
