Ok. Now I am very curious. I would really like to know which driver version you guys are using for the unlock with Cerebros.
Roswell108, can you check which driver version you have? I believe the name of the driver file is ser2pl.sys
It might be located at C:\WINNT\system32\DRIVERS\ser2pl.sys
Would it be possible for you to e-mail me your driver file so I can test it?
techno.pagan, can you also check?
Thank you.

I'm using a serial cable, not a USB. The cable I just ordered is also a serial cable.
I'm kinda slow, so I don't really need USB speed

Well, I was able to get it to work. Seems it was my STUPIDITY and NOT the cable (so my nephew will be getting the cable I ordered!).
I set the bps on the COM port to 38400 as it CLEARLY says on cerebros. Also I switched the cable to D/L and BAM, worked like a charm!
I guess with Optiflash and EasyGPRS the COM port settings don't matter (since both worked fine before) - but cerebros MUST have the correct setting.
So, live and learn... Thanks for ALL the help!
Oh, two more questions:
1) Does cerebros unlock directly, or do I need to flash your version 1.6, then re-write the IMEI?
2) Does cerebros unlock other Samsungs? I have a S307 and a E105 I was hoping to unlock...

It unlocks your phone's firmware, and that firmware of mine is already unlocked, so you don't need to worry about that. Cerebros works on most Samsungs

Well, Im just curious if theres anyone out there who has actually been successful in using a USB Data cable to Unlock an X426. There seems to be a lot of humming and hawing about this subject, but no definate answers that I have been able to find. Aside from Flashing the phone and loading unlocked firmware, has anyone used Cerebros with a USB cable and actually got it to work?
Second question. We are trying to unlock this phone for Fido, and have been able to get it to work with a Rogers sim card, but when we try the Fido sim card we get a "SIM crash contact provider" then goes to another screen and says "SIM ERROR" error message. we are using the V1.6 firmware off roswells site.
Hope im not posting something in a thread I shouldnt be, but just seemed like this thread had a fairly similar focus so thought I would try here.
Thanks for any help,

First, yes. I actually had a guy do it. He was the one who connected me to that other post with the USB drivers that seem so hard to find.
Second, SIM crash either means that there is some damage to the SIM you are trying to put in there, or that the SIM is not the same type as the phone can read (for example, I don't know if phones made for use with the 20 entry SIMS can handle the 40 entry ones or whatever it is). I would suggest trying another SIM from someone else's phone to make sure you unlocked it properly.

an interesting idea about the sims, I will look into that more. Also we had a thought that maybe it has to do with firmware versions. Maybe Version 1.7 would work. Is there a version 1.7 out there that anyone has that they could send me or if you know of a site that has it let me know. Thanks

Ver 1.7 and the new X427M firmware are both available at my site now. Also, I have unlocking instructions for rev 1.6 on there. As far as the data and d/l switch, if there is no box on your cable with a switch, you don't have it. Non-oem cables are common and are usually set to flashing and modding only.
