use audacity to modify your existing mp3's into smaller byte size chunks for uploading to phone.

In addition to clipping a 15 to 30 second segment of the song you can:

change from sterio to mono. (cuts file size in half)
force lame encoder Bit Rate to 64. (cuts file size in half)

audacity can be found on http://www.sourceforge.net

I use Sony Sound Forge 7 for my ringtones, you can record, edit, cut and save with ease.

But yeah, saves as mono and 64bit (radio quality)

Ok. I just found this out, and I am trying to do what you are trying to do. I am going to Download MP3 cutter. Anyways to make it 64 bit you: GO TO FILE, GO TO PREFERENCES, CLICK ON FILE FORMATS, AND AT THE BOTTOM IT WILL SAY BITE RATE: AND THEN CHANGE IT TO 64. I tried this, it worked the first couple times but then my phone started rejectiong them. IDK what to do. Does anyone know how to change it from Stareo to Mono?? thanks

Don't have to chang it down to mono, instead of 32 foating chang it down to 24 and down size it to much will make the sound not loud enought. Try Audacity it is easyer to use.
