I totally agree with u that the indicators on the battery are way to sensitive. I had a lg vx7000 abd 2 days after i bought it it was in car kit mode and i am 100% posative that my phone never came in contact with any water what so ever

My phone randomly changed to "Car Kit" yesterday, and my phone was just sitting in my purse all day long, in my desk at work! It didn't come in contact with any moisture, not was it dropped. I tried everything to fix it, even calling Verizon customer service. They had me turn the phone on and off, and had me do some reset thing with them, but it didn't help. They told me to go to one of the stores to have a service tech look at it.

I left my phone at home today, for my hubby to see if he could fix it. I looked online while at work, and called him and ran him through all the different techniques listed on this site, with resetting it, using the headset, etc. It seemed like we tried everything, but to no avail!

Before I logged off this site, I noticed that someone mentioned the car charger technique. My hubby went out to my car (which I left at home too), and he plugged the phone in to the charger, changed the phone ringer (it was originally on High-Vib which I had just changed the day prior to the Car Kit appearing), turned the phone off, and when he turned it back on again...VIOLA...the Car Kit thing was off my phone!! Yeah!!

Thanks for all the ideas!! icon_biggrin.gif

My VX7000 suddenly developed the same problem, with the same symptoms as posted here. In addition, whenever I tried to plug in either the home or car charger, the phone would shut off when I unplugged it.

I tried all of the listed fixes, to no avail. However, one of the discussions about the corroded pins made me look at the pin set at the bottom of the phone. It turns out that 3 of the pins had bent and were overlapping each other. I took a pen knife and gently pulled the pins apart, and the dreaded Car Kit was gone!

One note here: If you look at the pins, look closely; they're so small that it's difficult to tell if they're touching or overlapping. The overlapping pins just looked like one pin that was slightly wider than the rest...

i dropped my phone in the toilet the other night and it turned on to car kit mode. i tryed everything here the foil, the paperclip, the blow drying the codes but nothing worked. i let it dry overnight and still on car kit. later the next day i looked at my phone and it had turned off car kit mode and worked for about an hour then it went back to car kit mode. i followed the advice of taking apart and drying it and cleaning it with alcohol and its back to working!!!!! im so thrilled. thanks soooooo much. hopefully it'll last long. thanks again it made my day. icon_biggrin.gif

my phone dropped halfway into a puddle. immediately after i took it out it was fine, but later on it went into car kit mode. the phone randomly switches between working and car kit mode for me with no reason. i tried some people's replies like blade's but my phone is a pretty old version. any help would be greatly appreciated! thanks!

I tried the tin foil too and it would only work when I held it in there. I came back and read the forum some more and decided to try it one more time and this time, I folded the tinfoil into a small square and inserted it at an angle into the area where you put the charger and that did the trick. Pushing it in straight didn't do it. You will know it worked when you see a little blink - that means the reset has happened. I couldn't face a fight at the Verizon store. Good Luck.

I never post but since I did one of the recommendations that worked, I had to reply. Thank you to the person who recommended to plug in my car charger. It worked and you saved me time and money..

I did not get my phone wet and did not have any sort of strange dot on the battery so apparently my phone agreed with me that it did nto get wet.

The only problems I experianced as a result were that I could not hear stuff. I could make calls but I could not hear stuff. No alarm or anything. I thought that somehow it thought a headset was plugged in. After going threw settings trying to figure out how to get out of this mode I found this site.

Anyhow... I realized my phone did make a sound when I plugged and unpluged the speaker. I wanted to know if the sound was comming from the ear portion or the speaker portion so I unplugged and plugged it in a bunch of times with the phone near my ear to find the source.

Well, that did the trick.
Needless to say.. ??????

Just thougth I would make this post in case for some oddball reason this helps someone else out.

I dropped my phone in paint today. It went into car kit mode and the sound was messed up on it. I took it home and tried to clean the paint out of the pins. Then the display screen went black.. My husband took the phone apart and we cleaned all the paint out and let it dry. The speaker was full of paint. The moisture indicator on the battery was pink. After we put it back together the sound works fine and phone works great but still no display screen or external screen either?? Any advice?

I couldn't believe when my wife returned from the store and informed me that we have to buy another $300.00 phone to replace the LG that had NO water exposure whatsoever!!!

What the he$$ is that all about?

Luckily, I fixed it myself...somehow...
