Thanks to all for their ideas on how to get out of "Carkit Mode".
Unfortunately none of them worked for me. However it gave me the courage to try a few things on my own. And after inspecting the charging connector very closely, I did find a solution.
Before you try it, you need paitence, a steady hand and a needle.
1. Take the battery out.
2. Look into the charging connector port on the phone. Make sure theKeypad/flipcover is facing up.
3. Look into the port and at the connector pins on the right hand side. On my vx3200 the two pins on the right were touching. It seems some lint from my pocket got stuck in the connector and pushed them together. I used a needle to remove the lint, and then used it again to gently move the extreme right hand pin away from the pin it was touching.
4. Problem went away.
BTW, Verizon technical support was of no use, they basicly told me that the phone got wet, and I needed to buy a new one. Shows you how much they know.

I have to reply to this car kit issue. I have read all the replies and appreciate the willingness of everyone to share their tricks. We have experienced this problem with my daughters cell phone. She happens to be visiting my sister out of state and as we all could have guessed when my sister took her to the verizon wireless store...they informed her it was because the phone had come into contact with water (did I really expect anything different?). My daughter swears the phone did not come into contact with water. I have copied your suggestions and have e mailed them to my daughter to give it a shot. I think my bigger beef is we have had cell phone burried in snow, phones caught in the rain golfing, dropped and really beat up to be honest and NEVER have we had this problem. I did attempt to tell the person from customer service (that is a joke in itself) that after my reading up on this subject, I had to wonder if this was an issue with the phone as I had seen a lot of people with this problem. They told me they had not heard that or nor did they believe that and basicially sorry, but your phone is only six months old so you can buy a new one at the retail price. I am wondering if ANYONE has had any success with verizo wireless. I told them that I had called my daughter at 7 and the phone was fine and then attempted to call her back aqt 7:20 and was unable to get a hold of her as this is when the phone when into car kit mode. I basically have been called a liar and found their lack of customer service so upsetting...almost worth every dime to pay the one hundred and seventy five dollars per line to get out of our contract. They obviously don't value the $150 per month we spend on three cell phones! Your feedback would be appreciated as I am composing a letter to the VP of customer service.

thank you all..so glad i found this link...same old story..kayaking-wet hands...deaf/mute fone a coupla hours later...CAR KIT....unresponsive people at Verizon (A holes in fact)
Struggled for days until I found you all....now everything works except for the external and internal mike(s)... no one can hear me...a blessing to some...however the wired headset works OK but is a pain in the neck...fiddle faddleing all the time
I guess I may reluctantly become a bluetooth Spock cyber-eared geek until i can use it the old fashioned way again
anyone have any clues how to turn the mike(s) on...i've tried all the above...cleaned up a little pin crud..took apart...dried it out..did the codes...etc
thanks again everyone so much for all the info...i wonder if anyone from Verizin Wireless has ever read this stuff...sounds like the beginning of a class action to the legally inclined..which I am not..but would gladly take the ride

ok i tried all the previous methods stated except for opening the phone. after an hour of compressed air spraying, reseting using blades methods, and using foil to short circuit surge the phone i was still outta luck. then i tried the hair dryer. worked in 20 seconds. just blast the dryer on high and aim it directly at the bottom of phone NOT battery. take battery out. i blasted the bottem for 10 sec then the number keypad for 10 sec. boom. works.
ps. my brother didnt need his phone anymore (we have the same one) and i tried just taking his battery. doesnt work. so dont buy a new battery. also my phone just got rained on for maybe 20 seconds while it was charging. but apparently water got inside the phone. once again Hair dryer is the answer for me

I had car kit on my phone after i unpluged the charger. I looked on here and went through all the reset stuff and nothing worked. Then i inspected the pins where the charger plugs into and noticed one pin was on top of another. I got a knife and straitened them out and the phone came back on.

Okay, I am so thankful to this site. I read all of your wonderful advice, and I tried the steps to reset several times, I tried sticking my phone in front of a fan, and finally, out of desperation, I tried sticking aluminum foil in the charger port, despite the fact that I thought this was the stupidest idea given on the site, and wasn't even going to try it..and guess what!!! it worked!! it really worked. Good luck peeps. Car Kit immediately dissappeared, and my phone started working again

The foil thing solved my "car kit" mode problem (I think, I can't reproduce it now anyway) on my future stepdaughter's vx7000 but it still randomly says "incompatible charger" even when it's not on the charger. All I have to do is press OK or END but I just wonder why it's still acting up. Did anyone else's do that?

Hi - appreciate all the posts here. I love the ingenuity. I had an LG VX4650 that dropped in the yard (had a leather cover on it), but must have had some moisture get into the bottom charge area (the rubber protector was tossed a long time ago).
I tried all the code resetting that I found here to no avail. I removed the battery and used the hair dryer for a minute or so on the battery contact area and the bottom of the phone where the charger plugs in. This did the trick for me.
Thanks so much for posting. You saved a few hours in a trip to the VZ store, and you saved me what sounds like a lot of hassle about replacing the phone or not.

I was trying to take it apart @ work and couldn't/didn't have the time. I eventually just kept plugging in/removing the charger cable and I started hearing beeps. Finally the car kit mode went away. Thanks to all that offered up assistance. Good luck to those with the issue. Thanks!
