Hi, this is my first time on one of these message boards, but I'm really stuck.

I've recently bought a Nokia 6610 Mobile phone and also bought a Infrared Data device so I can download things from my PC to my Phone.

I worked out how to get pictures and Java games onto my phone from my PC, but can't get any of the polygraphic ringtones to work for some reason.

I've downloaded heaps of them, and everytime I put one on my phone I try and play it, and I don't hear anything. Or I just hear a little bit of the tone not how it supposed to sound, like it's missing a whole lot of it.

They are .mid and .mmf files. I use Nokia PC Suite 5.1 and use the Nokia Sound Converter that comes with it. I've tried a number of times and it seems like my phone can't handle these tones or something. Maybe there not compatible, I don't know icon_confused.gif

I've also tried to use Mobimb 1.2 and everytime I use this program, it comes up with a error on my phone. If it's a game, picture, or Ringtone, they never work. And it also deleted all my pictures and games from ythe phone, don't know what happened icon_cry.gif

And someone also said try Oxygen Manager. I tried this one and I can't get anyhting to transfer at all. But I only have the demo version, maybe that's why, I don't know ?

So if you's read all that, you's have done good haha.

Also, can you's recommend any good things I can download for my nokia 6610 phone, thanks.

6610 just support 4 channel midi (just *mid and not *mmf). PLEASE read help file in nokia sound converter to understand IT better.

Thanks for the quick reply Asu80.

So how do I know how many channels the ringtone has ?

Because I downloaded the ringtones from this site under Nokia 6610 phones. You would have thought it would have worked.

So if anyone know's hw to get them working , let me know because I'm not very PC literate icon_sad.gif

And ASU80 I found a site where to get MobiMB 1.2.3. If you want it, or if your alloud to post links in here I will.

I saw in another thread you wanted it.

The Nokia 6610 section aren't necessarily all 4 tones, just midi files. Other polyphonic phones have the same midi files under their section too. So depending on how many instruments your phone supports, you'll have to convert them down and make them compatible based on what kind of phone you have.

If you post the link it'll probably be deleted. Best to email it.

See I don't know which instruments are supported with the Nokia 6610, how do I find this out ?

And how do I edit the polyphonic ringtone. I wouldn't have any idea at all how to do this and wouldn't know which instruments to cut back on on the ring tone icon_confused.gif

No problem

Open the midi files in nokia sound converter. U will see numbers. That is the channel. Channels in bold green text fit the selected phone.Channels in black do not fit the selected phone. You can make them fit by changing their priority using the Move Up/Down buttons.Channels in red do not fit the selected phone. You can make them fit by changing the polyphony value of the channel. No matter what colour they are. Just edit the values OR change their priority.

Just use nokia sound converter and play with the values untill it FIT. You can edit/shorten the midi using anvil studio v2003.05.03. It's freeware. Search it on google.

You can go to the Nokia website. It specifies the corresponding instruments associating with the codes. It doesn't matter which instruments, you can only play 4 channels with the Nokia. You can use the Nokia Sound Converter to listen and pick the 4 channels.
