The phone uses a separate block of memory for SMS messages. So, even though your total free memory is large, say 5 MB, you still can only save a number of SMS messages only.
Make sure you clear your Inbox and Sent items folder of unwanted messages. Also, get rid of templates you don't need. Basically, clear everything you don't need.
I hope this helps.

Well if it's not a setting on the phone (I guess u have checked), a software update would be the thing to cure it.
The update should be free as this is not supposed to be that way. Take it back where u bought it.

You can have the firmware upgrade online, provided you have a docking station or a cable connection. Sony Ericsson website gives more details.

Thanks | Thanks everyone for the help but Ive actually managed to fix my problem or it seems so, I currently have 8 msgs stored on my phone and im not getting a msg telling me its a 95% full. Hurrah !!!
Basically all i did was save everything i wanted from the fone onto my computer and did a master reset. This completely wiped everything from the phone.
When I turned the phone bac on my problem was solved. Of course I had to reinstall my themes etc. But that was a small price to pay !!!!
Anyway hope this helps anyone else with a similar problem.

Hi Friends,
I believe this is the problem with the Handset, some major issue, me and my wife bought this handset, now she is able to save atleast 10 messages, and my handset memory is only 3 sms's, its going down day be day, i have tried all options, Software updation, Master reset, etc. my free phone memory is 21MB.
I registered a complaint at Sonyericsson.com three days back, but no response from thm.
just waiting for thr reply ...if anyone knows anything to increase message memory , pls help me.
