I just got a Razr V3, and successfully sent a .wav file to it via bluetooth from my computer. I can see it and play on the phone, but I can't set it as a ringtone.
Am I missing something? Can someone help please? |
if you can see it and play it, try highlighting it, pressing the menu key and assign as ring tone (presuming V3 menu functions are similar to every other V series motorola phone I have seen)

I cannot get it to work. I have a USB 2.0 cable that I use for my PSP which also fits my Razr, and I have a copy of Handset Manager that I got from a Radio Shack.
I was never able to get the Handset Manager to work. The USB drivers wouldn't install; it just kept prompting me to reboot every time it tried. I gave up after about ten reboots.
Now I use P2KMAN and it works fine, as far as transferring the files to the phone. If I go into the Sounds menu, I can play the mp3s on the phone, without any re-encoding or tweaking.
But it won't set the MP3s as ringtones! I can choose the "Apply as ringtone" option, and it gives no errors, but when the phone rings, it's not my sweet Chrono Trigger MP3 playing, but some stupid stock Motorola ringtone.
Has anyone else run into this problem? Can anyone help?

Finally solved the problem. All I had to do was delete the /a/mobile/audio/TempToneDB.db and MyToneDB.db files. Then I power cycled the phone, and when I went into the Sounds menu the next time, it took a little longer, ostensibly so that it could rebuild the database with my sweet-ass ringtones included.
Thank you again Kingtz.

OK kiddies... Tried this tutorial with my new v3 black phone. Once I've downloaded to my phone & try to access the mp3 file, I get a "file is corrupt" message on my phone. Any suggestions??

Phoenix, thanks. Deleting those two files worked, I'm now able to select MP3s as ringtones.
-Mot V220
-P2Kman build 27.07.2004
-p2k usb modem drivers bundled with that build
