i just got the slvr from verizon and i cannot for the life of me figure out how to use my songs as ringtones! i've edited them into snippets and synced them up, and put them on the internal memory.but i can't set them as ring tones (i fear verizon has locked some option so that i will buy their ring tones). if anyone has any suggestions on how can accomplish this i would be forever grateful.oh and use little words, i'm not a very accomplished technophile.
thanx.

Hey,

I've read through this chain and have a few more unanswered questions. I have a v3 razr. I was wondering if there is another method for clearing those .db files mentioned on page 2 of this chain. I've loaded my files onto my phone and they appear in the list of tones but like others have mentioned, I am unable to select these tones as a ringtone. They play appropriately and show up with the same icon as the audio recordings.

I tried the master reset from page 2 (i think) to see if reseting the settings on the phone would also change my ability to set certain tones as ringtones, but this didn't work.

I do not own a USB cable and have been putting tones on a microSD card via my camera (connected via USB to computer).

Is there any way without possessing a cable and downloading p2k software to enable these tones as ringtones? Could the formatting of the files (extension, bit rate, size, time) impact whether or not I can use them?

Or, does anyone know if purchasing one ringtone reset the db files enabling my own ringtones to then work?

Thanks

Hi everyone
I’ve been following up on this poll, and reading the directions to be able to download ringtones onto my telus razr v3.
The steps seem easy enough, although I have a couple questions if someone wouldn’t mind answering them
1. In the instructions, I need a program “P” something…is there a link I can use that anyone has?
2. Is this method fool proof or could I actually do some damage to my system?
3. Does telus have warranty if I fry my system?
4. If I do everything correctly and am able to delete my .db files, what kind of program can I use to download ringtones onto my phone ? I found a site called myxertone or something like that, but I was wondering if someone had something is SUPER easy since I’m not the best at this kind of stuff

bare with me guys, I’m amateur with this, although I am equally a frustrated customer of telus that doesn’t want to pay $5 bucks for a 5 second ringtone. Geez.

hi,

I have the Vc3 with the following installed on my computer:

RSD Lite 2.7
MPT 4.0
p2kman
Polderbit Sound Editor
p2kCommander 3.22

The problem I have is not that I can't get the apps above to connect to the phone or that I can't transfer .mp3s to the phone.

It's that even though I transfer the mp3 to the phone(with a length of 27 sec) to the phone with MPT, it won't give me the option to "Apply As Ringtone".

I have tried to fix this by deleteing the two database files then power cycling, but this had no success.

Can someone please list out the steps and requirements to create a ringtone from a mp3 for the Vc3?

Woot! icon_w00t.gif

I got a custom made ringtone to work on my Vc3 and I didn't have to delete the two db files.

The problem was when I would cut a sample from a mp3 in PolderbitS Sound Recorder(http://polderbits.com), I was saving the ringtone as Mono.

So after reading through many forums and other various sites, I thought why not I'll just try a stereo copy of the ringtone.

After saving the ringtone, I uploaded it to the Vc3 with p2kCommander(http://s5vi.vxxxstuff.com) and was able to "Apply As Ringtone" right away.

Is there a guide on optimizing ringtones for razr v3?

Are these specification for the razr v3 available anywhere?

- playback sampling frequency
- frequency response of the phone

Should midi be converted to mp3 first before transferring to phone?

A quick and dirty test suggest rendering midi on a PC may sound better than letting the phone play midi.
