Unlocking Nokia 1100 (b in this case) Tracfone (US prepaid provider)
first the basic info: network 31099901, Asic 2 (have no idea what it does) Box serial 32835
(this was provided by someone else previosuly - it WORKS - just follow the "cookbook" below)
There are 2 separate things to do to unlock the phone - get the unlock code and USE IT
Getting the unlock code - you COULD pay for the code (it's your WASTED money) - otherwise -
Go to trycktill.com (there are others, I just used them because it was the first one I found) These instructions are unique to TRYCKTILL
click "unlock"
change to "English" unless you like Swedish (or at least I think it's Swedish - lower left corner icon - click the flag)
"BRAND" - Nokia MODEL - 1100 Country - UK (and it doesn't matter WHERE you are just use "UK" - it works) NETWORK - MANUAL (plus a few words)
IMEI - whatever it is, enter it - phone unique
NETWORK - 31099901
BEFORE ENTERING BOX SERIAL - click the right hand box and set to MANUAL
BOX SERIAL - need to backspace and enter 32835 (and YOU CAN'T DO THIS UNLESS "MANUAL" IS SET in the box to the right - read the note above)
Click "agree"
Click "send"
There will be a list of 7 codes all starting *pw+ then 15 digits then + (and a number 1 thru 7) followed by +. These are the unlock codes. Copy and paste into notepad or something so you don't lose them
To enter the codes -
IF YOU WAIT TOO LONG BETWEEN ENTRIES, THE SYSTEM GOES BLANK AND RESETS - JUST START OVER - as long as you havenb't gotten to the end, it doesn't seem to matter - just try again
push * (asterisk)
then push * again 3 times (makes a p) WAIT TIL IT FLASHES
then push * again 4 times (makes a w) WAIT TIL IT FLASHES
then push * again 2 times (makes a +) WAIT TIL IT FLASHES
then enter the 15 numbers
push * again 2 times (makes a +) WAIT TIL IT FLASHES,
enter the digit (1 thru 7)
then push # and after 3 or 4 seconds, it will display "phone unlocked"
This was a generic set of instructions - I just went directly to SEVEN (didn't use the 1 to 6) and it unlocked directly The only "bad" thing about the 1100b is that it only supports 850 and 1900 (most European systems do 900 and 1800) so make sure you can use it - I intend on using mine in Thailand. The US price was $20 (about 12UK) so it was certainly inexpensive

I tried successful the first time, that was very helpful! Thanks!
Now I replaced the SIM card from Rogers, everything works fine except the time units is still ticking. Once the time units are gone, I could not make any phone calls. It seems like the phone has build in thingy by TracFone. Is there any way to clear that?

I found some instructions on what the individual codes do out there on the web somewhere (and I didn't write the URL down) but what it amounted to was that there are individual locks and you MIGHT need to go back in and clear the locks individually (You DID write down ALL the codes, DIDN'T YOU??) Anyway - the codes are evidently unique to various internal locks and 1 of those might be giving you the problem.. I'm no expert but a fair dinkum internet sleuth.
My problem is that I would rather use a different prepaid provider in the USA and they won't sell/deliver me a SIM card because the phone is "registered" to TRACFONE. Funny, I THOUGHT I OWNED IT AND COULD DO WHAT I WISHED WITH THE PHONE - seems the various "US prepaid suppliers" have other ideas. So - I guess I will have to buy another and unlock the "new" phone as well (now I need to find the network number for "Net10" so I can unlock the phone for use in Southeast Asia (1900 GSM band)

I do have those codes and I tried all of them, 3 of them were not allowed and the other 3 were good. But the units is still there, 0.0 left. I guess I have to buy another phone instead.
Thanks a lot anyway!

Shuan, all you have to do is flash the 1100b phone with different firmware using a data cable. It seems tracfone is the only company that rigged their phone all weird.

I also have the same issue as Shaun. I took my Nokia 1100 to a shop and got the phone unlocked but now because my airtime tank shows 0.00 which means I have no funds, I am unable to use the phone. Even if I use any other Service Provider's SIM, I am unable to use it....Any help is appreciated.
