If you are getting the "AIRTIME TANK IS EMPTY" or similar message about the airtime tank that means you need to FLASH your 1100 phone with different firmware using a DATA CABLE and you will then be able to use a different service provider's sim. Data cable will cost you about $12, there is no other way around it except for using a data cable to flash. I have my Tracfone Nokia 1100b working with cingular service using the 64K sim after unlocking and then flashing with different firmware.

Can u tell me more about this process, how do i flash and how do i get the data cable(specification). Is it something which we could do ourselves or get it done thru a shop.

Thanks again for ur time.

You can definatly flash yourself if you have a data cable, and if your shop has a data cable and the normall 1100b firmware they can do it too, most shops will not want to do it, but if you can find a shop that will do it then by all means let them do it. A data cable can be bought on ebay, just search for "nokia 1100 usb" on ebay and some of the reasults should have the data cable for like 10-15 dollars shipped. After that all you need to do is download the firmware online and flash.
Data cables also come in handy as you will be able to backup your contacts, transfer other ringtones and files "to" and "from" the phone for FREE!!

Flashing your phone on your own might be legal, but in the end it is in fact illegal because Nokia firmware isn't public domain.

note i never said anything about flashing with NOKIA's firmware, i just said firmware, that could be a custom freeware firmware that someone else developed. *cough*

Yes, Bjoern, is in fact right, so you might want to look around for firmware that wasnt made by nokia, i wouldnt want anyone going to jail or getting fined! (although there is NO record of anyone ever getting jailed or fined)

please note that I DO NOT support using nokia developed firmware in any way, form, or fashion. *cough* *cough* SNEEZE!!! (oh im feeling sick)

Anyways, I leave it up to you people to do whatever you want, the choice is yours, but you have been warned!!

*UPDATED*
Sorry guys, i guess you cant flash the firmware using a data cable, you need a special cable and box to do it, the the cost of the cable and box is more than the phone. Appx $150. I guess people with the 1100b tracfone are just screwed.
