Ok, I have tried everything, and it's not doing jack squat. If anyone can help me, please please please please please please please let me know.

I have:
Reinstalled MPT
Reinstalled drivers
Restarted phone
Rebooted computer
Reinstalled drivers AGAIN
Turned phone off and on multiple times.
Unplugged and plugged back in USB cable multiple times

NOTHING is working.

It just sits there and says "initializing" forever. I got it to work ONE TIME, and now it won't do anything and it's frustrating me so much!!! I've been trying to make it work for several hours now with no success.

Got it to work again!! However, no garauntees it'll stay working...

Went into setup - new phone. It then asked me for the type of phone (GSM, v400), and installed the recommended drivers for me (supposedly). It said mobile phone not connected, so I restarted the phone and ... tada!! It still said that uplink and downlink were disabled, but I was able to copy files using the multimedia center. However, at the end of each file upload, it would give me an error message that the phone declined the file. But it still copied it and I can listen to my new ringtones on my phone! All images transfered from the phone to the PC worked without a problem.

I used for years Oxygen software made for a NOKIA 6210.
Simple and good :
The application is written as an Explorer, with the main
actions on the left. To post a SMS, you click the SMS line,
on the left pane, it opens 2 branches for the SMS received
and sent, you chose the send one, click, it opens the sent
SMS list on the right pane.. ALL YOUR SENT ARCHIVE !..
at the end of the list you add your new SMS to send...

It memorizes and shows as a list the content of the sent SMS,
with the sender, the receiver, the datetime, a reception ticket
if any...

Unfortunately, with the mobile phone tools, The king is naked!
Trying to make it remember my sent SMSs, I even tried to
dissasemble it ! Found then a true shit :
the 3/4 of the content is herited from the fax software
of BVRP's Winphone !

What damned do I do with a fax machinery when I can't
remember whom did I sent a SMS and what it was talking about ?!?

For months now I'm hoping some other software for my V500,
other than this boolshit.
My last Motororororola phone if is continues... I'd better switch
back to NOKIA...

It took me a while to figure this out so I figured maybe I can save someone the trouble.

Basically, when I started looking for the MPT software I read in various forums that 3.11 is the current version... Unfortunately what I was not aware of was that there are at least 2 version of 3.11....

I found a copy of MPT 3.11... I figured why go through the upgrade process if I could go straight to 3.11.. While this version works fine for transferring files and stuff, I found two drawbacks: 1) The Outlook Sync feature was not available... While it would install the add-on in Outlook, MPT would not even offer Outlook as a source for the PC based Phonebook... 2) The live update feature is not included. It just doesn't show up in the setup menu at all...

So save yourself the trouble and start at v1.23. Download the 2.16 (US) upgrade and install it. Then use the live update. Mine was brought all the way up to version 3.19e (after downloading about 10 different files totalling around 50 MB).

New version sync'd with outlook (2000) with no problem... though I did have to unistall it after the first try and start over as MPT kept getting an error and closing when I started it.

Hope this helps someone...
