All,

I am new to this board and have made every effort to read past posts to get my answer. In an attempt to keep from launching my PC and V180 across the room, I performed two live updates and I still cannot get past what was "initializing" and now is "please wait". I continue to get the icon that shows the phone is not connecting.

I can give ya'll any information necessary, and I'd appreciate any assistance.

For the love of all things holy and just can someone PLEASE help me figure this out. I paid $30 for mpt and cannot figure out what I'm doing. I followed the steps at the beginning of this thread. here is where the confusion begins.

"8. Enter a code you would like to use and then your phone will jump to life and ask for the same code. Your device is now paired. "

after I enter the code on the phone my computer says "please click the "advadnced modem settings" button for further configuration options (for HSCSD or GPRS) or click next."

Since I have no idea what the heck that crap is I click next and now the computer is asking me for the telephone number, username, password, and dial up connection name.

Why do I need to set up a dial up connection?
What does everybody mean by the word "modem"? Are they installing the phone modem to access the internet? Do I need to set up a modem if I only intend to use the program to transfer data and sync reminders? I'm running mpt version 3.40i and I'm trying to send mp3's (ringtones that I created in adobe audition) via my internal tablet bluetooth module (v1.1). The phone doesnt just pair after I have verified the passcode.

All I want to do is send data via bluetooth!!!! I'm a pretty savy computer user and this program is really getting on my verves. I dont want to spend hours and hours trying to get a program to work if it only allows me to bypass the usb cord. I've messed with it 3 times, and everytime I get 10 min into it I;m forced to giveup.

Even with the usb cord the image of the phone is not a v3.

Please help me figure out why I paid for this.

Sorry for the ranting.

don't feel rained on "okstateben", i have had mpt for almost 2 months. installed it without a problem, ran it without a problem until day before yesterday when it just stopped working. i have done nothing different, it now either won't recognize my phone after repeated attempts or will connect and repeatedly disconnect.

i have uninstalled the software, and reinstalled it. have deleted all of my modems and let them be reinstalled, have directed the software to install various drivers, depending on which forum's advice i read.

at first, i couldn't get the various p2k software to recognize the phone. now all of that stuff runs no problem. for about 2 weeks, i could switch software at will, including the mpt. but then, as i said, for some reason, 2 days ago, the mpt stopped working. everything else works fine (p2kman, p2ktools, menueditor, motokit, pst, etc.)

i spend all my free time searching forums for solutions for mpt. because of all of the posts i see asking for help with (and cursing) this software, i have come to the conclusion that it is just highly unstable. i am looking into mobiledit. icon_ermm.gif

I'm having great difficulty with getting this to work. I've purchased PhoneTools, installed it but it doesn't recognise my L6.

I updated the software, then tried to update to V4 and every single time the LiveUpdate tries to install the computer locks up halfway through.

I am using the latest version of Phone Tools on my motorolla SLVR. When I try to send an SMS it promts me to Read number from the phone. I click the button and I get the usual progress bars then it shows no contacts in either Phone or Sim memory. Unusual thing is when I use Phone Contacts it does find all the phone numbers. Really irritating and software much less user friendly than Nokia's.
Any suggestions?

I have Mot.V400,xp and MPT(version not on disc)

MPT won't even load for me .I've tried numerous drives, plugged the phone into different USB ports and I still get the message listed below.
I've plugged the phone into the USB and it recognizes the phone.

cannot create file for C:\docume~1\owners\locals~1\temp\setup.ini

I have no idea what this means.I just want my pictures.HELP
