I have mpt version 4.21 installed, and this is the latest version... Ive searched and searched for my answer so please help. I have windows sp2 w/all updates (as far as I know) and MPT DOES! recognize my v3 (only i think it recognizes it as a v3c?? maybe) Well I have the V3m, either way it should have the music portion of the program right?? I cant find the melody workshop or any other transfer/edit programs or features on my mpt everything else seems to show up fine... The whole reason I got the darn thing was for ringtones etc... So why isnt it working...I did have the same problems as other people trying to figure out why the pc wouldnt recognize my phone but now it does which is great except i still cant do what I want... Ive read everything I could and this forum seemed to be the most updated so help PLEASE! (ps: on version 3.0 or somthing the "ringtone" icon showed up but never lit up!)

hope this helps you help me....MMHM!

Which provider do you have? Manu CDMA providers cripple this feature to try to increase their sales of ringtones

Damn I have the Verizon pos as well. So you have to flash it in order to load anything? I've tried usb and bluetooth; get the same results as you mmhm. How frustrating!

I have mpt v 3.11h which has been updated with LiveUpdate to v 3.28. I can't get it to recognize my phone. The C290 is connected via USB (no Bluetooth in this phone). I'm using Windows 2000.

Starting MPT brings up the window asking how the phone is connected (BT, USB, IR). I then get the window saying "Your phone will be detected and set up automatically". Well, it does nothing but sit there forever, no matter how I turn on / off / connect / disconnect. My phone is neither detected nor set up.

However, if I start MPT then start Microsoft ActiveSync. Then, MPT starts to do something... I get "please wait. Your phone is being installed and set up" and a progress bar. When the progress bar finishes, another window says "mpt did not detect your phone. Do you want to manually install your phone?" This brings up a Wizard, from which I can select "standard modem" or "other device". Of course this does not work either. So it seems ActiveSync doesn't help much.

Now, the C290 is a relatively new phone. Perhaps there's an update for MPT, right? If I start LiveUpdate, it offers an update that seems to take it from 3.28 to 3.30. The file is only 132 kb. However, when I download it, it's more like 2 MB. No matter, it doesn't work anyway! After it downloads (this takes 60 + minutes with dialup) I get the message: Update error: "The Update engine is not installed <ok>". I also get one from LiveUpdate: "Update failed. The Update module has intercepted an error. The Update engine is not installed." And a third one from Windows: "Setup.exe has generated errors and will be closed by Windoes."

In trying to get this POS to work, I reinstalled MPT and did the LiveUpdate installations of two software updates; one about 25 MB in size and another of about 15 MB, which took me to version 3.28. Remember I only have dialup. All took many hours, and I did it twice over the course of a week or so. In the end I got exactly the same result as I described in the above paragraph -- can't update MPT to v 3.30.

I would like to ask BVRP for help but support seems nonexistent - Online support brings up the Motorola website with no obvious links. Since I have Sprint, I'm used to having no support though.

So: Question 1: Does anyone know if the C290 is supported? The website I bought the CD from says it is.
Question 2: How can I get MPT to connect to this phone?
