First of all i've spent the last 3 days truing to figure out this bugger, it's bloody annoying when u get no instructions from Motorola, not impressed with their service.
That said he is what i was playing with, my pc is pentium 4, 2.6 Ghz and operating system is XP. I purchased my Motorola official dongle and CD 3.0 pack from Mobilefun.com. Im connecting via Bluetooth by the way not by cable.
I wont go into what doesns't work other than to say that when your pc comes to recognise your phone and u hit 'find me' on your mobile the pc will sit there with a spinning clock and basically do nothing.
Here is how i fixed this:-
1. Install the CD/file data for Mobile Phone Tools (MPT) first.
2. Run the MPT shortcut and add a new profile in your name.
3. When prompted to insert your dongle into any available usb port on your pc and it will load in the required data.
4. You will be asked to restart your computer (I did this, not sure if it's that important but i would recommend it)
5. Here is where the fun starts, you now need to bypass mobile phone tools and connect your phone to your PC via you settings menu. Goto Start menu on your pc desktop and to control panel and hit bluetooth devices (If you are in new XP windows then hit "printers and other devices" to get into bluetooth devices). Your PC should now be in Bluetooth Devices and on the Devices tab, it will be blank below.
6. Now on your mobile goto settings, connection, Bluetooth link and down to set-up and hit 'find me' to make your mobile discoverable for 60 seconds. (Im working on my V80 menu's here, yours may be different)
7. Go back to your PC now and you should see after about 20-30 seconds a Motorola V600 phone. Highlight the V600 and hit next and it will automatically 'pair' with your pc by prompting for a passcode.
8. Enter a code you would like to use and then your phone will jump to life and ask for the same code. Your device is now paired.
9.Now go and launch mobile phone tools again and make a new profile. When the setup wizard appears asking you to pick a connection type hit cancel and the programme will stop running and a skin of a V600 will appear to the right side of your desktop.
10. Press the F6 key to enter manual setup on this 'skin'. Goto the communications tab and click the change modem button.
11. A device connection wizard will appear, hit next and your pc will look for your phone modem connection. Select the modem that reads "Standard modem over bluetooth link"and hit next.
12. A configuration complete window should appear stating your phone has been setup. Click finish and then OK on the metup window.
Your phone on your desktop should now look like your actual mobile!!!
You can now use your MPT!!!
When complete you can just exit your mobile pic on the screen. To oad in future uses hit the MPT icon on your desktop and choose your selected profile and it will load your correct phone skin in for you and connect to youre mobile.
Tah dah, thats it, it worked for me. Remember i'm using XP, the dongle USB bluetooth connection and I have a V80 phone. Im not promising this will work for you if you have different systems but hopefully it will!
Thanks,
Simon

It does that to me occasionly Ryan, what i recommend is that u turn MPT on and connect up, then turn your phone off and back on again. It should all work ok then.
It's certainly a tempremental thing, but when it's running properly its a terrific little tool. Im amazed that Motorola cant get a bug free version released. Their customer service leaves alot to be desired.
If this doesn't work or you have more problems then please get back in touch Ryan.

First post here. I've been searching for an answer, can't seem to find one anywhere.
I've got MPT for my v400, and a USB data cable. I've got the newest version downloaded and installed (3.11), and it's all working just fine, until the little "image" of a phone pops up (the navigation tool), and now it says "Phone Image Not Available" and Initializing ...
And has for the past 20 minutes.
I've turned the phone on and off, unplugged and plugged back in the data cable (from both the computer and the phone), and neither has worked so far.
Any suggestions?

Well, I got it to work ONE time. I got about 10 pictures transferred off of my phone and to my PC, then it said the phone disabled the connection, or something to that extent. Now it does the "Initializing" thing for ever again.

Sounds like a modem driver issue. Did you install the driver from the mpt folder or a different one?

Did you install mpt 3.11 or you installed the 1.23c verison first, than you did a liveupdate to version 3.11?
Its very odd how so many members are having trouble with the software. I did the exact same steps as others have posted and I have no problems. You should have no problem connecting.

I opened the 2.1something version before I updated .... Betcha that's why. I've read many places that you can't plug in the phone before you have the newest version. I'll wipe it and start over again to see if that solves it.

the 2.13c is the updated version. You either need the 3.11 full version or the 1.23c orginal version then use the 2.13c to upgrade and do liveupdate.
