FAO Bush icon_surprised.gif

ok i started with opening the MSS program and it too said the phone was in flash mode... i messed about with the '*' - '#' & power button a bit and still don't know if it made a difference as the phone needs to be in flash mode anyways.

i went to the 'flashing module' tab at the top, and browsed for the same 55 flash you have.... lt loaded after two attemps at it. icon_wink.gif

then i re-opened the mulyflash (pst) and loaded my 58 monster flash again.
i have just finished editing the seems to enable features again now & loaded my media again.... with still a few 'bugs' to sort... icon_confused.gif

my phone has been charging for most of the day and yet it seems to have 'drained' the life span out of it...after one hour off charger, it shows empty, then charge complete after about another hours charge.. time for a new one i think icon_rolleyes.gif

btw my phone is now recognised as a V500 again with the 58 monster,
if the above file does not work you will have to get a 'monster' pack to try ..maybe you should try a monster pack first as you cannot reverse after the 55 flash.you can only goto the 58

deja' vous?

BTW~ to get over the subsidy password (bush)
you just had to delete the secure_pds_init with p2k & set your own greeting, then restart phone icon_wacko.gif

I've got a stock v400 with the following ...

FLEX: GS9V400MCL01NA139

S/W: TRIPLETS_G_0B.09.2FR_A1

DSP S/W: 62D5C500

I have done some SEEM editting etc.. to personalize my phone.

Can someone suggest which, if any, upgrades to my flex/flash would be of benefit to me??

I'm mainly interested in something bug-free/better RF reception/faster OS[smoother menus]

Was thinking that I may only need to upgrade my firmware and don't really need to upgrade my flex since I'm happy with the way I editted the seems....

If you want smoother and faster menu response, you may need to upgrade the flex.

Try flashing it to either 4FR, .45R. See if that helps any.

1. Can you suggest which FLEX I should upgrade to ?

2. What is the difference between 4FR and 45R ? which is newer and which has fewer known bugs ?

3. Will any of above possibly improve reception ?

You can try either one. If you don't like one after you flash, pick the other.

I am not too sure, but I think the 4FR is newer. I haven't tried it so I don't know of any bugs. .45R is the one I am using now. There is no bugs that I've noticed after flash, but you may need to seem edit to your liking afterward. No big deal since you have done it before.

I finally duddits! ...
I Flashed to 4FR and flexed to v600 then to v3 RAZR.

Let me repost what I started with...

HARDWARE: v400 [stock]
FLEX: GS9V400MCL01NA139
S/W: TRIPLETS_G_0B.09.2FR_A1
DSP S/W: 62D5C500

- using PST 7.1 w/ the universal patch, I ran MultiFlashFlex as per instructions on the first page of this thread

- flashed with TRIPLETS_G_0B.09.4FR

- everything seemed to be in order but of course I didn't notice any changes/improvements [maybe there is some but they didn't jump out @ me]

- seeing how easy that was, I couldn't resist the temptation to flex...went ahead with the v600 engineering flex GI9V600000AA0E9

- everything seemed to be in order once again and noticed video playback enabled...I didn't do too much experimenting with this flex before more temptation took over and decided to attempt the v3 RAZR flex SE8605AXXU504D

- flexed successfully, however since the flex is barebone, there were a few 'fixes' that needed to take place....

PROBLEM #1.
*CAMERA*
- first thing I did was try to work the camera [stupid], it worked, but as soon as I pressed the CAPTURE button the camera would just reset and stay 'live' while making all keys disabled, even closing the flip did nothing [inner lcd remained lit], couldn't turn off the phone...

SOLUTION #1.
removed battery, waited a minute, re-installed the battery, powered up phone, went to camera again, but this time hit the menu button and went to the PICTURE SETUP where I noticed the camera tone was set to CLICK...I changed this to NONE... problem solved
*note: I'm pretty sure that instead of removing the battery could have been avoided by using software such as P2KMAN to restart the phone [just a thought]

PROBLEM #2.
*RINGSTYLES DETAILS*
- since absolutely no audio is bundled with the above v3 flex, you are unable to change ringstyles details, you just get kicked out to the menu, even if you upload audio to the phone.

SOLUTION #2.
used the great MOTOKIT v1.06 to fix ringtstyles [not sure what the exact wording is as I don't have the software on this PC, but it's pretty obvious]...what this does is change all the settings ringstyles details to SILENT...I find it odd that the 'barebone' flex doesn't already come with all the details preset to SILENT.

PROBLEM #3.
*NO SOUND*
- system tones seemed to function normally, but was unable to hear anything when playing mp3's or any other sounds, as well was unable to hear people talking during a call and there was no sound when phone would ring.

SOLUTION #3.
this one drove me nuts...took me a while to find the answer...turns out all I needed was to place a file called "param_table.bin" inside the phone's root (a) folder...found the file on another HoFo thread... here is the link I used to download it: link to sound-repair files [courtesy BigDaddy5] ... worked like a charm:D

PROBLEM #4.
*MAIN MENU ICONS*
- or lack thereof ... yep ... main menu appears ONLY as a LIST, will not change to ICONS...this is not a major issue but would like to fix it.

SOLUTION #4.
have not found a fix as of yet
...will post as soon as I do.

that all the issues I found so far, will post others as/if they appear

hope this helps...

btw... to sum up, here's what I ended up with...

HARDWARE: v400 [stock]
FLEX: SE8605AXXU504D
S/W: TRIPLETS_G_0B.09.4FR
DSP S/W: 62D12100

as for the good stuff....

- noticed much faster OS [smoother menus, startup/shutdown]
- smoother camera operation
- total usable space increased to 7139Kb
- all software/tools on my PC recognize my phone as a v3
- maybe more to find still icon_biggrin.gif

happy flexing icon_grin.gif

[where are my manners icon_angel.gif thanks to duceduc and all others that helped]
