I am glad you flash/flex successfully. I bet you were sitting on the edge of your seat while waiting for the % to reach 100.
Here is the solution to your problem #4
| Quote: | PROBLEM #4.
*MAIN MENU ICONS* - or lack thereof ... yep ... main menu appears ONLY as a LIST, will not change to ICONS...this is not a major issue but would like to fix it. |
Goto menu, settings, personalize, main menu, view:, icons

and I didn't backup the flexed v3 seems d'OH!
you know where I can get the seems that came with the v3 flex? is it possible to yank 'em out of the flex file ? [if you think this is at all relevant in the first place]
cheers !

well here's what I noticed so far ...
- uploading my v220 or v400 mma_dcp/ucp files gave me the ICONS back ... however since they're from those phones, they had slightly different menu options etc...
- I also tried a v600 mma's, that was same as the v3 situation ... no ICONS ...
- a consistency I found was that whenever I saw ICONS, there was 9 of them ... whenever I could not get ICONS ... there was only 8 ! [the AIM was always missing] even when enabled through SEEM editting...
so ??? Is it just that the phone will not display the menu as icons unless there are 9 of them ??

I got a Cingular branded V220. I put in my T-Mobile SIM card and it works fine. The software was designed for Cigulars service. Some of the data features don't work. I would like to update the Flash/Flex to the Unbranded version. Which files do I need, flash or flex? I'm looking online for the files but am having trouble finding them. Can you send me these files? Will this relock the phone? Would it work better with my service, I think so? Do you have any information about this topic? I'm a computer scientist so I'm good at these kinds of things. Thank you for your time.

Following this guide, I am trying to use these...
Flash = TRIPLETS_G_0B.09.45R
Flex = SE7495AXXH1082
... On my V180 from T-mobile.
I am trying to do this because I get a poor signal and lots of dropped calls. Also I figured if the setup is good enough for duceduc so it should be ok for me, right? I like to load games, wallpapers and MP3 ringtones to the phone. I like the idea of 7+mb of free space and only having the files I want on it, without branding all over. I am also hoping this upgrade will give me more online chat, email, and internet options.
When I click on the shortcut for MultiFlashFlex I get a dialog box stating:
Searching WIBU-BOX with 768:16777215 in the network.
It does this 3 times.
I then receive the error of:
Error: PST Initialization failed! No Security key detected.
After I press OK it closes
This is as far as I can get.
I use a generic USB cable from my phone to the comp. My progs are :
PST 6.7
PST 7.1.1
PST Uni Patch by m2teusz
Motorola Mobile PhoneTools v3.11h
Motorola Tool
P2k
P2kman 2
WIBU-KEY Network Server v3.10a (this just showed up in my start menu)
XVI32
I have used OPcode 5*0*15 to make the speakerphone louder.
I have used Pk2man to remove locked sounds and pictures.
I have tried to use P2kman and Motorola Tool to unsucessfully remove the T-Moblie text from the inside screen.
I can get any other files you may think I need. I am good with computers, but have only had the v180 two days. Maybe I should be happy with the way the 180 is and not risk it.. but where is the fun in that?
I can't think of any other info you may find usefull to help me. If you need more info .. -edited-
Thanks for anything you can offer.

You should probably consider yourself very lucky that you ran into software trouble, not allowing you to flash/flex.
Did you do any research on the v180 specifically ?
From what I have read...v180/v220 do not use TRIPLETS S/W but are often confused as vXXX phones and thrown in the mix by people who know little about them. [they are the same with regards to SEEM editting etc... but not firmware]
The flex you could probably use without problems ... but you need to find the correct S/W for your phone...I saw a thread titled "v220 flash/flex files" or similar on howardforums.com, I would look in there before you mess up your phone.

PRELUDiCON;
Thank you for the reply!
I had no idea about the v180 having the same problems as the v220. I have only read this forum for info on my phone so far, as howards forum seemed to be a "re-post" of this site. However I'll go there to see what they have now.
Any other info is most welcomed. Thanks again
