Thank you for your help. I just received the usb cable I ordered and tried uploading wallpapers to my v551 using p2kman build 02.07.2004 and it works perfectly!
Just a question before I meddle with ringtones now: I am going to use PolderbitS Sound Recorder and Editor to edit my mp3s, but I'm not sure about the exact location on my phone to which I should upload the ringtones.
I am guessing its going to be /a/mobile/audio/vavr but I want to be 100% sure so I don't mess anything up. Am I correct or do the ringtones go into a different location?

Unless the V551 is different from the V600, shouldn't it be:
/a/mobile/audio/xxx.mp3.

Ok I uploaded the file to audio and this is the message I got:
File upload... /a/mobile/audio/pac.mp3 ok
The file is 19.3kb and 4secs long.
The uploading process seems to have transferred just fine as I can dectect it in the directory using p2kman. However, I cannot find it on my phone. I even restarted it after it transferred. I see all my regular ringtones but not the pac.mp3 one.
The way I go about changing the ringtone is Setting>Audio>Vibe then Ring Detail>Calls:...then I change it to whatever ringtone.
Am I doing something wrong in either step?

P2kman is fishy sometimes uploading files to phone. Try a master reset on phone.

When I try to install PST 6.7 I get an error message about it can't be install on XP SP2. Is there a work around this?
I got PST to install. When I run PKman it shows connected but no files show up in the window. I tried clicking the "Update List" button and got this error message Receiving "file list...FileList entry size invalid!
Fail!".

Ok, I figured out why it wasn't working before, with some help from motomodders.com:
What you need to do is delete the following files from /a/mobile/audio:
MyToneDB.db
TempToneDB.db
Then you upload whatever ringtones you want into the aforementioned audio folder and it should work.

Well, I upgraded to Windows XP Service Pack 2, and now everything works just fine. I did mess up though, so I had to reflash my phone, but everything works ok now. My only problem is that I upgraded my girlfriend's V180 to a V188, and when I turn it on, the greeting says something like "Flex Error: Subsidy-Locked," and the greeting always changes back to that no matter how many times we change it, and there seems to be less disk space on it than before, but other than that it seems to work fine....
