I have recently upgraded from an antique to the LG VX-7000. I am very interested in all the things you can do with the data cable. I have just got the USB data cable (and it fits in the phone)and cannot get it to work using bitpim. When I bought the cable that was the reccomended software and its free. I downloaded both versions(.62 &.7) and cant get either to work. Bitpim says it cant find any"canidate" ports when I try to "get info from phone". Is there anything that I have to set up on my PC for this wo work? Is there any other software that will do the same thing? Thanks for your reply. Dustin
Also, what is the "yourphonenumber@vzwpix.com" I tried that and it doesnt work. Do I have to registar for this? Thanks, Dustin

Did you get USB drivers with the cable? If so, did they install correctly? When you plug in the phone, you should hear a little beep from you computer. If you aren't hearing this, then you don't have the USB drivers for the phone connection installed. From what I have heard, Bitpim works great with the phone and cable so keep us posted.

Well I got the cable to work. It something in Windows that I did wrong. Yes, the drivers were installed when I was having the issues. I do hear the beep when I plug in the cable, but if I unplug the cable then I have reinstall the phone drivers. I'm not worried about this because I dont upload/download stuff that regularly. Also I get an error when I try to access the phone book on the cell and getting or sending data for the calendar is "grayed out" in bitpim.

You can download the drivers for the USB Cables at www.futuredial.com if you bought the normal one at like Radio Shack. If not, just check the website of your cables manufacturer to download the current drivers.

You know that S-C-U-M Site seems like a nice enough place, but all I have found there is a few FAQ's - which look copied from here and other sites, some 'hot girl' photos and a few memory hack software programs that are hot linked from other sites.
I tried posting some ringtones but found I have to dig for about 20 minutes to find them instead of finding them on the main midi page. The other part that is troubling to me is that alot of these are unedited MIDI files, which means that the slow intro is the first part of the ring, mostly starting off with a click in with just a tick, tick, tick, tick... Which means that call is in voicemail before you ever hear the ring and they will take up 60k a piece instead of the 2 or 3k that normal 30 second rings take up.
I think if they can figure out how to organize the information better, it would help, but until then, go to the LG site and download the drivers, the USB driver is right on the VX7000 page - or the bitpim site directly for their software. I think the links will be more reliable and the stuff is much easier to find.

I downloaded my USB drivers directly from the LG site myself, and they work fine too. I havent ready chcked out the ringtones there, I have just been making my own. But I agree, the tones need to start out with the chorus, or at least something audible. If not, they are pretty useless.
