I have Motorola V60 (Cingular) and I called up Cingular to get the SIM unlock code. I have the code with me and was told that when I insert a new SIM card (from other cellular provider) the phone will prompt for the code to be entered.
I tried to use a SIM card from another provider in India and it did not ask for the code to be entered and I am not able to make any calls. What is the correct procedure to unlock this phone ? Where do I enter the unlock code ?

Have you tried a second sim card? It should have prompt for a subsidery code with a different card.
Or, you may need to get your hands on pst or mss software.

Thanks. I have not tried with a different SIM. I will try it today and see how it goes. Also, surprisingly the phone is able to read / load the SIM as I can see the address book of the SIM though.
Also, what is this pst / mss software ? Where do I get them ? Are they are to unlock the phones ?

I have yet to unlock any phones with pst software; however, I did notice a feature in pst (security) that has a box where to input the subsidery code. Again, I do not know much more than that.
These software are not freely offered to the public. Hence, many of our members are having such a hard time finding it. We are prohibit to post such links here.

PST - Phone Service Tool, is not your best bet for unlocking your phone. But I do believe that you can unlock it using MSS - Motorola Service Software. Only issue is that MSS requires you to have a server password to VictorGSM to be able to unlock your phone.

Or buy a program call security box3.0 to run with MSS and now we talking $600 to $700 and that is why I think MSS is a warez but they don't make a big stink about it cause with MSS alone we only have access to 1/3 of the potiental and cabalility of the software can do

Thanks for all the tips. Looks like my phone did not have the lock at all. When I changed the network selection band to automatic from 1900, it started picking up the local phone vendors network and I was able to use the local SIM card.
