I did a search for my problem and came across someone with the same problem but the solution they were given did not work for me. I think the thread said something along the lines of changing the network settings which I did but but my reception is still the same.
It worked fine when I was at home in Philly but when I came here to Scranton in my dorm room it's horrible. Many of the other buildings give me perfect reception.
I'm stuck, I tried e-mailing t-mobile but they haven't got back to me completely yet. When I had this problem with At&t they sent me a newer model of the phone I used to have(Nokia 3200) and it worked much better. Now I have a v600, could this be the same problem? I got my phone about 4 days ago. I would really like to have better reception as I am stuck in my dorm for the next month and a half.
Any help or suggestions are appreciated.

It seems like there is nothing wrong with the phone but the area you are in. You say it works fine in other buildings but not in your dorm. There is not much T-momo can do but to offer you a differnt phone if they are willing to do that. EVen than, it may still be the same.

check the reception with cingular and att's GSM network.. if those two work in your dorm, get a new phone because it will work for t-mobile... could just be a bad phone

The density of the building can make or break reception as after all it is wireless service.
If there is a local retail T-Mobile store near you check the coverage using the coverage map at the retail T-Mobile store to see if at the physical address where you have the reception problem if the coverage shows ‘great’ using their coverage map will also show if there is a site down or if there is an impairment of service in the area as well with the estimated time if any of when the issue will be resolved
If in fact it is a problem with simply using the handset in the building there’s not a lot that can be done, mostly what is told is to use the handset near a window to see if the reception will improve
