just got the motorola v600 data cable and software, when i installed the software it keeps saying that it can not connect to the phone. Can some one help me

What kind of software came in the cd? Is it only a driver cd? Mostly likely that is the case, you will need to get a copy of MObile pHone tools or similar program to transfer files, etc....

i have got mobile phone tools but it keeps try to find a modem and not conecting to phone.
Also when data cable is pluged in it charges the phone

Direct Windows to look in the mpt folder under program file. You will need to install the driver for the phone you use.

Double click on my computer, program files, mobile phone tools, inf, xp.
Need sure exactly which folder. Try inf folder or xp folder.

found folder but there is no drive in it

That might be an issue. You may have gotten the wrong cable. The usb data cable should not be charging.
Do you get a prompt from windows stating new device found after you plug phone in pc? Did it install driver when direct windows to mpt folder?

when i plug it in the computer pick it up and installed drivers but did not direct windows to mpt folder

should it keep try to install the modem when using usb

You have to manually look for the mpt folder yourself. Windows does not know where to look for it.
