I personally am PROUD of having made 4 of my friends move from Sprint PCS (Piece of Cheap S#!^) to T-Mobile, in NYC, Miami, Palm Beach and Washington DC/VA. 2 others have moved from Cingular. EACH one loves it.

Their service is great, better than Sprint, no worse than anyone else. I get a signal even in a remote beach of FL where I could not get Sprint signals.

There IS a difference in signal strength I get in the worst spot I go to regularly. There I get signals that vary depending on phone, on my SE P900 (weak), Nokia 9500 (good), Motorola RAZR (great), so phones make a big difference.

No one comes close to their customer service (Sprint SUCKS, Cingular is poor). I can use international roaming from Day One. Their data plan gives way more than anyone else.....

So, feel free to go with AT&T and Cingular. It's your money.

I've been using T-Mobile since VoiceStream days. I haven't been 100% happy with the service, but definitely have found they have the cheapest plans around for what I need.

I have encountered a very bizarre problem, however: misrouted calls.

Every so often my phone rings and it says on the screen that someone (whose number is in my phone book) is calling. I answer, and someone else I don't know at all is on the line. Meanwhile, the person whose name showed up on the phone is actually trying to call me, but has been routed elsewhere and ended up on a different person's phone line. It's happened the other way round as well (my speed dial has called complete strangers).

A couple of my friends who also have T-Mobile have run into the same routing errors, but none of my friends with other service providers seem to have any trouble.

I have to say that in all my time as a T-Mobile customer since its launch in California in August of 2001, I have only had one major issue with the service and it wasn't the service - it was the phone I got with the service!

This isn't to say that I haven't experienced connectivity issues or whatnot, because I have, but I've called them who-knows-how-many times by now and each time, my calls have been answered fairly quickly and always courteously.

I have a story I would like to share, which highlights one of my major reasons for staying with T-Mobile.

When my last phone before my 3200 got stolen in October/November in 2004 when I was making a call while in mass transit, I found myself at a T-Mobile store in SF where I was immediately taken care of by the reps there and immediately patched to T-Mo's customer service line on their phones.

The agent I spoke with listened to what had happened and we reviewed my account for misplaced calls/calls made after the theft and he put extra security measures on my account. Turns out, the thief had made international calls to Zimbabwe of all places and I was never held accountable for any of that.

At this point, I was blown away with his courtesy and concern, but what really blew me away was what else he did for me.

When we talked about phone replacement options, he asked me about my price range and I admitted that I didn't have much money to spare as a university student. At this point, I was willing to shell out enough to pay for their low-end phones to get me by and that's almost literally what I told him.

After we talked about what options I liked and needed, he offered me an extremely good discount on a brand new phone on a newer model to replace the one that had been stolen.

Granted, I had been a customer of theirs since 2001, but this was unexpected and I was exceedingly grateful for this pleasant surprise.

I ended up getting a brand new 6610 in less than a week and only paid 39.95 at the time, which was really a teeeeny fraction of the cost.

The end result is/was: I called T-Mobile back a while later and commended them for their customer service and I've never forgotten the courtesy and consideration I was shown during that time.

Maybe this was because I've been a customer for so long and was thus treated well, but the agent's consideration and professionalism is something I have always associated with T-Mobile and will continue associating with them until I run into a situation where their customer service defies what I've experienced thus far.

Some people would say that it's because I'm female and the person(s) who I talked with were male, but I've had equally wonderful customer service with both sexes, so that point is completely moot for me.

So yeah...

I'm sorry if your T-Mobile service was bad, but I've never had anything but praise for them thus far.

I am glad that you got the customer service that you did. Also THANK YOU for calling back to commend on the good service. All day long we listen to complaints and very rarely do we get recongnized for going that extra mile for the customers. It helps brighten someones day when we hear is there a way I could tell your supervisor that I am happy with the service I got today. Usually if someone wants a supervisor it is because they are not happy with what we have done for them. So again Thank you for your consideration. This is the customer service that we at T-Mobile strive to give.

I'm going to type everything about my life with T-Mobile.

I am a 15 year old deaf boy living here in Harrisonburg, VA. I used my dad's credit card for all this then paying him back in cash in time. You will think I'm crazy, trust me.

First of all, in December 2004, most of my friends who are deaf, they got the sidekick. Some of them had it from SunCom. I was going to get the sidekick from SunCom before they merged with Cingular/ATT Wireless, but I heard negative things about them like if you go out of the state, they cost you, and they cost you for other things that you shouldn't be paying for. I heard that they had better coverage than T-Mobile in our area, and SunCom doesn't require voice plan but T-Mobile does. Then my friends who had SunCom, they don't have service for sidekick anymore after Cingular bought SunCom but they still made them to pay for nothing.

In December 2004, I ordered the T-Mobile Sidekick 2 on the internet from A1wireless.com with the plan with unlimited text, web, and email all for $30 with .20 cents per minute for voice. I LOVED the device, but the coverage needs a big improvement. What I liked the most about the sidekick is the IP-RELAY. I can call anyone through relay on it. I had the sidekick until summer time. My first sidekick's backlight broke from throwing and dropping it a lot because I got angry when I had 3 bars going down to 0 even when I'm not moving to anywhere too many times. I'm not even paying extra for the Extended Warranty so I wasn't sure if they were able to exchange it for free. So I called the T-Mobile Representative, and explained the problem. They said they were able to exchange it for free since it's not PHYSICALLY damaged. So they sent me a new one, and I sent my old one back in the same box with no problem.

ONE WEEK later after having my 2nd new sidekick, someone pushed me (I had the sidekick clipped on my jeans), the sidekick's screen hit the edge of a desk so the screen CRACKED. It is PHYSICALLY damaged so I was sure that I'm not able to exchange another one for free. After I got out of school, got off the bus, as soon as I got home, I called them again. They said there will be a $300-something (near to $400) charge for a new one since I'm not paying extra for the extended warranty. I was so angry because I dont have that much money, and my dad wouldn't be happy because I'm using his credit card. I didn't know what to do. So I agrued with the represative, which is a she, until they finally found something that they can do. They offered me that I can renew my 1-year contract to a 2-year contract so I would get the best discounts on a new FLIP phone instead of a sidekick. She read aloud the list of the phones that I can get for discount so I chosen the Samsung x495. I only use it for text messaging. So I chosen the best plan which is $20 for 60 minutes of voice, and $4.99 for 400 in/out bound messages which is $25 per month. I did get reception in a little more places than the sidekick got.

I was so jealous when I saw other people with other wireless carrier (such as Cingular, Sprint, and especially Verizon) who had service where T-Mobile doesn't provide service. Most of people I know has Verizon. So a couple months later with my new Samsung flip phone with T-Mobile, I decided to cancel T-Mobile and try Verizon. At the time, they didn't have any phone with full QWERTY keyboard and I didn't think about the Blackberry devices at the time. I cancelled T-Mobile for $200 and signed up with Verizon, and got the LG LX8100. I LOVED it. I live in a valley, so I got service EVERYWHERE, even in the deep of a valley/mountain. There were NO place that I had no service with Verizon. But I had a problem with them. They are TOO expensive. The LOWEST plan they had was $40 per month for 450 voice minutes (I didn't need any minutes!) and $5 unlimited text ONLY with other Verizon customers plus 50 other messages for other nonVerizon customers but I also had other friends who has other wireless carrier instead of Verizon. I texted too much with other nonVerizon customers so they charged me up to $55 per month for 2 months. I wasn't able to afford that because I don't even have a job but I do clean for someone's house every weekend but still too expensive for me. I also kept on having dreams about sidekick because I really missed having email and web surfing.

So after 1-2 months service with Verizon, sadly, I decided to cancel Verizon for $175 and got back with T-Mobile. t-Mobile didn't cost me for the early termination fee because they give their customers 90 days to see if they are going to change their mind and get back with them or not. So since it was close to Christmas 2005, I decided to buy a new sidekick (my 3rd one!) at the full price since I get a lot of money on every Christmas. I signed up for a new 2 year contract with the same sidekick data plan with .20 cents per min for voice. I love the sidekick's features but I will live with the spotty coverage. A few months ago, they sent me a postcard saying that they added 159 cell sites around Washington D.C. area (my area, Harrisonburg, is about 3 hours away from the DC) between 2004 and 2005 and they keep on adding a few towers every month. I think I did get a LITTLE better coverage in my home from Dec. 2004 to Dec. 2005. And that would be my final decision icon_smile.gif

I'm currently a customer of the Consumer Reports so I've read their reviews about all wireless carriers. They rated Verizon Wireless as their first choice, and unbelieveably, they rated T-Mobile in the second place. It's because they tested all wireless carriers in 19 different metro cities. So they rated from first place to last place: Verizon, T-Mobile, Sprint Nextel, and Cingular. It surprised me because T-Mobile's coverage isn't very good in VA and Cingular's coverage seems better in VA because every time when I'm with someone who has Cingular, they always have more bars than I have with T-Mobile. But Cingular's customer service was rated the worst. But I see that T-Mobile is the best in the most populated cities. I know they were right because everytime when I'm in D.C., I NEVER had less than 5 bars. So I learned that T-Mobile is the best in most populated areas, but sucks in the rural areas. I live in the mountains and the tower is located near the 81-I so the mountains are between me and the tower. I get at least 3 bars at my house but none in the basement. The problem is: They need to stop adding towers in urban areas, and THINK about the rural areas for now icon_smile.gif But I'm glad that I have Cingular for roaming.

Now, there are two different types of the towers. They are GSM and CDMA. Verizon and Sprint uses CDMA. T-Mobile and Cingular uses GSM. I learned that CDMA gives you much more coverage than GSM does. So T-Mobile and Cingular are required to add a lot more towers than Verizon and Sprint. CDMA is a lot more powerful, GSM gives you less coverage (for me.).

In my OPINIONS:
T-Mobile is a good wireless carrier. They need some improvement of coverage in rural areas but they try at their best to make their customers happy like giving them discounts or for free, and other things that would make them happy so they would stay with T-Mobile. T-Mobile has the cheapest plans/rates available. I think they have the best customer service than any other wireless carrier.

Now I have over $700 to owe my dad, so if anyone want help me, it will be GREATLY appreciated; I take credit cards, cash, checks. LOL :-] I also learned that life is unfair and HORRIBLE! Haha. . .

Their coverage is so bad I can't even get reception in my own house! I'm not saying the Customer Service is bad, because they throw free bonus minutes at me all the time to appease me.

And yes, they are CHEAP. I pay $39.99 (Works out to be $10.00 more with tax) for 700 minutes a month. (Free nights after 9 pm and weekends)

But this HARDLY helps when I can't even talk on the phone due to no signal! It happens all over New England! I have friends in Rhode Island and in Maine. Zip. Nada. Have to wander around outdoors to get a couple of bars to make or receive a call.

Yes, a year contract is better than 2 years, but if you change your plan, the 12 months start all over again! Yikes.

And I upgraded to a much nicer phone, but it made NO difference.

I am going to fork over the early termination fee and get Verizon. I hear great things about their coverage. And when it comes right down to it, that's what I need. To be able to talk on my cell phone. How novel!

One more thing:

My brother has T-Mobile and we tried something. We drove all around Maine and saw which one of us had a signal.
When he did, I didn't and vice versa!

How lame?

We were in the same spot and had different coverage!

No, my phone is nice and more expensive. It must be the phones. I have a Samsung flip camera phone, yet I have the same reception as when I had the el cheapo Nokia.
