This is an absolutely fantastic site and I am so happy that I found it. I loved being able to read everything and anything about each of the phones and I narrowed it down to 2 with Verizon that wouldn't cost us the kids bank accounts!
I wanted opinions on the newest Motorola v265 or the LG VX6100? I need some insight by Monday as we have to get new phones immediately (mine doesn't charge and my hubbies is cracked and will bust any minute).
We primarily like the speakerphone option, having the outside display is a must to id who is calling, camera just for kicks, and really he uses his for business in NYC (600 min a month) and me just occassionally about 100 min a month (monmouth county NJ), he wears his phone on his belt all of the time! Hands free a must in NJ. We don't use IM or the internet at all. The kids would like it if there were games on the phone but, I wouldn't use any downloads nor internet time.
Being somewhat illiterate please try to explain whatever your opinion is in very basic format. Thanks so much!
Additionally what accessories would you suggest with either of these phones other than an extended battery?
Lastly is it possible to download pics taken on these phones with a USB cable and not using the web? If possible what would I need to buy?
To be fair I will post this on both the Motorola and the LG sites.

I got the LG but, I don't like the get it now stuff and the fact that I can't disable it and my 6 year old was easily able to get into it is really not helping me want to keep this phone. Plus the battery life really isn't great. My last Motorola stayed charged for 3 to 4 days easily and this phone is dead within 2 days. I may take 1 or 2 pics and my Motorola was a 4 year old phone...............
Thinking of getting the Motorola unless someone can tell me how to disable Get it Now and let me know why the battery dies so quickly.
Thanks.

I have the Motorola 265 and will be exchanging it for the LG 6100. The date has disappeared from the screen and Verizon personnel tried unsucessfully to get it back. They had no idea what happened. I went home and now decided to switch phones.
The battery life on the 265 is certainly not good in my opinion. I don't know how good the 6100 is, but I can't see it being any worse. Considering the 6100 has a larger internal and external screen, and is brighter, I honestly don't see any advantage to the 265 except perhaps for musical ring tones. Overall, the 6100 offers some nice enhancements like lens cover, larger displays, and brighter LCD screens.
Hope this helps you.

The one thing I can say is the reception on the 6100 has been excellent and I only get dropped calls occassionally and that is in an area where most people don't even get a signal.
I did notice another problem with the 6100. The o/s screen has more bars for reception and is inaccurate while the inside screen shows fewer bars which is usually more accurate.
I live in one of those areas where there isn't a cell tower and it keeps being fought down. My in-laws house normally has no reception in the front and none in the back???
Good luch and the phone has a great deal online now!

I returned my V710 and couldn't be happier with the LG-VX6100! No dropped calls yet!

Are you saying the maximum number of bars shown on the O/S screen is less than the maximum bars inside, or that this is a matter of accuracy? Sometimes the O/S screen may show 1 more bar than inside as these things do change - I've noticed that on a number of phones. How much of a difference do you see?

The o/s screen normally shows 1 to 2 bars more than the inside screen. I have had the o/s screen show full reception in an area where calls always get dropped and there was 2 bars on the inside screen.
The other thing I noticed was the speaker on/off. Whent the speaker is on the screen says speaker off and vice versa? A little backwards but, at lease I know it.

That is odd about the bars. Must be the phone.
Another oddity with the speakerphone. Maybe I'd better stick with Cingular

BTW, there is a way to disable Get it Now - it's in the manual.
