In my experience, Cingular isn't going to give you a discounted new phone until you live out the contract on your existing phone. There may be some exceptions made, but they recoup their cost on the phone they sold you over the course of the contract; if you change phones now, they will have lost money on the first phone, and have to subsidize your purchase on a new one...
The exception to this would be if you had a phone when you started service with Cingular (i.e., from AT&T or T-Mobile), and didn't sign a contract to begin service. Then you would likely be entitled to a new subsidized phone; you'll need to talk to someone there to be sure, though...

Ok thanks, i asked a cingular rep today if i can upgrade, he said i have to finish my 2 year contract to get discounted phones, and buying online doesn't work for me, because most phones are triband with either 850/1800/1900, or 900/1800/1900, and i need 850 for usa because i'm in college, but i'm originally from Jordan, and they use 900 mhz, and theres no nice Quadband phones out there , so i'll just stick with my crap v400 that i hatE! thanks bye.

is there a particular phone you want? you can buy one online if you can find a good price. it doesn't have to be from cingular, as long as it's unlocked. that's how I bought my v600 and it's quadband. the only quadband phones in abundance i've seen so far are from motorola and i believe are mostly flip phones. not sure if they have their new candy bar phones out yet if thats what you're looking for.

sites are showing conflicting information about the A630 specs. but it looks like it will probably be tri-band with 2 versions - US and everyone else. the US one looks like it will be 850/1800/1900 and the other will be 900/1800/1900
