I've tried the codes for similar phones (e700 & e715) with no success.
Could someone also tell me the best place to get a data cable in the uk?

ok, the phone is locked to vodafone, i've never tried to unlock anything but an e700 a year ago that worked first time.
The phone works with my vodafone chip. What is the process i use to unlock it.
I've heard two versions:
1) Put in other network chip (O2 in this case), and type in the code
2) Put in no sim and type in the code..
Anyway, what i was asking is what is the full code i type in, *xxxx*xxxx# or whateh.

Thankyou for all the help, i just stumbled upon a method for unlocking v .6 e710s though, and its worked perfectly. If anyone else is interested:
1) note handset imei
2) insert the card you want to use in your handset and switch on
3) at wrong card enter *2767*688nnnnnnnnnnnnnnn#
(nnnnnnnnnnnnnnn = handset imei number)
4) The phone will reboot itself.
after reboot your sim will work BUT not after power down
So, now your phone has rebooted, type in the following:
*0141#
6) press call (green) button
7) now simlock updated to current network. If you want to use a different network again, repeat the process.
