Hi all,
I've recently bought a 7610 and I am trying to sync it at work. At home it's working fine on my laptop, but at work I can't get it to work. Whenever I open PC sync, my phone connects (is also shown in connection manager), but when I hit <Synchronize Now> nothing happens, except the blue/green tray icon blinking a few times. Normally it should either synchronize, or the PIM selection dialog should come up if the PIM is not yet specified.
Also, when I hit the properties button nothing happens (even though the button is not greyed out).
I have tried a number of things:
Connected through both bluetooth and the USB cable. Connections are working fine, Nokia Content Copier is working.
Installed Nokia PC suite 6.1, 6.3 and 6.4. Even ran registry cleaning utility in between. Same problem everywhere.
Formatted my phone (both hard and soft).
Checked if the IMEI code of my phone is ok (it's fine).
I found out that a the IMEI code folder is not being created in Documents and Settings/Application Data/Nokia/PCSync/SynchData. I tried copying the relevant folder from my home laptop to my work computer, but this didn't do anything.
Some more info: I am adminstrator on my computer, the O/S is win2k (all updates installed), my Application Data folder is on the network (I'm thinking that maybe that could have something to do with it?).
I've tried different forums, and though I've seen similar problems in other posts, no one seems to know a solution. I am starting to get a little desparate, any help would be great. Also, if anyone knows of a different way to sync my calendar info from outlook to my phone that would be fine too!
Thanks!
Johannes

I am also experiencing the same problem with PC Suite 6.4 and a Nokia 6230 and Outlook 2003 - again I have full control of the PC (local admin) and can't get beyond the properties button to set the first sync up.
Any help most appreciated
Some further information - when running PC-Sync as a local user (not networked or domain member) then the Sync configuration wizard starts up properly on first connection, so the installation appears complete. This is something to do with Outlook 2003 / Windows 2003 active directory and folder re-direction?

Hello Johannes,
had the same issue with Nokia 6820 and the latest PC Suite for this phone. There was no way to get it synchronised with MS Oulook. The PC Suite started but the Properties section of the Synchronisation function remained inactive.
It seems that this problem could occur during the first connection of a phone to a certain PC.
I tried almost everything:
- Reinstalled PC Suite (downgrade / upgrade ...)
- Recreated profiles in Outlook
- Reinstalled Outlook
- Connection via IR, Bluetooth
Finally the solution that worked in my case was:
1- Delete the two directories that are named by the IMEI of the phone. This 15 digit number can be found via the key-sequence *#06#. These directories were located under "Document and Settings\<USER NAME>\Application data" in some subdirectories.
2- Deleted a file that is named "ConfSTmp<IMEI>.XLM".
I just listed them via the Search-Function in Windows Explorer and deleted the directories and the file.
As the phone was not working with this PC before there was no backup data or configurations saved on the PC, which could get lost by this actions.
Good luck!
Luko

I can confirm this to be the case also - but I don't understand why.

I had the same problem and tried everything to no avail. In the end I installed PCSync v6.6 through another account with administrator rights on the machine - this worked - my PCSync is working perfectly now. My operating system - Windows XP service pack 2, Office 2003.

Are you saying that PCSync is now working for all users - or just users with admin rights?
