Yeah I think the Vodafone customised T610's are cheaper. It cost me an extra $100 to get the vanilla one. Definitly worth it in my opinion. Vodafone actually advertise the uncustomised version of the T610 on tv...It's all just stupid.

I ended up having to buy a Vodafone Live! T610 as all Orange phones were out of stock and would of cost me over £100 more. I am having the unblocking code sent to me which should arrive in 7 days. So by the sounds of it i'm stuck with this Live! sh** all over it? I will be using an Orange pay monthly with their GPRS and such, does this mean I can't get that crappy Live! button off the standby screen?
Maybe if I get my Vodafone dealer to write me a letter saying I want the original (non Live!) software on it the Carphone Warehouse will flash it will the Sony software?
Any commments or help will be appreciated )

As for the Live! Start-up picture;
The original SE one can be replaced by turning the start-up picture off in the options and then turning the phone off and then back on again.
Then when you've turned the phone back on again go back to the start up picture options and select standard. Turn the phone off and then when you turn it back on the original SE animation will play.

I've been with Vodafone for many years and I've never had
any of these customization problems.
If they do that to the Z10Z10 (Se's TOP phone) I really will be angry!!!
Maybe if we wrote a petition or something saying that Vodafone branding sucks, and it will dramatically affect future vodafone sales to consumers and got a load of people to sign it.. they might listen?

All the vodafone live menus and logos are stored in a ROM chip in the phone, This is READ ONLY MEMORY, if the phone is flashed it will update the software but the ROM will always be the same. When the phone powers on it get's all the menus from the ROM. The only way of getting this off is by getting it unlocked, no Sony Ericsson dealer will do this as will invalidate warranty. Also if anything goes wrong no SE dealer will touch the phone as they can tell if it's been unlocked form the SW info on the phone

I went to my dealer today with my Vodefone Live! locked T610 and complained loudly about the altered menues. No dicussion, no problem, I got a new one, an original one this time. And I didn't pay anything for this.

briski80, if I bought the T610 from your store, then came back with the dilemma we've all been discussing. If I asked for an exchange like MH just posted, would I be granted one?

Hi folks,
How would I unlock my Voda T610? I have the code, which Vodafone emailed me, but am not sure how to go about entering the code.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

After ordering my T610 on Wednesday on the Vodaphone Live! network, I went to my mobile phone retailer on Friday saying that I'd like to terminate my order. The sales assistant asked why, and I calmly explained that I was disappointed with the Vodaphone menu customisation. The sales assistant said that he'd swap my handset for a SIM-free T610 on Tuesday, so I should come back then. He must've been scared about losing me.
To be fair though, he new exactly what I was talking about, since he had a vodaphone SIM in his generic T610, and had the original menus. If I don't get what I want on Tuesday, and he's trying to string me along, I'll cancel.
