I would like to know if there is a way to take off bad Vodafone Live! personalization from T610 SE. I'm not simply talking about increase cell memory by taking off pictures, sounds and games, no. I WANT to take off all orrible Vodafone sw trashes like menu icons with only 3 or 4 colours and so on..
Thanx

I also want to do that, I've spoken to vodafone, and they told me to go to my local sony ericsson distributor.. I've tried to call them, but they are quite unreachable... also, I've waited t610 to be more widely available around here..
call vodafone and tell them that you would like to have the original menus.. see what they tell u..

I was looking though this site for a way to get rid of the Vodaphone live!?! customisation, and saw this post
I have manged to speak to Vodaphone and Sony,
Sony are telling me that they will only put the firmware that came with the phone on it (with the Live! stuff) and that Vodaphone have asked them to do this, and as you have found Vodaphone tell me to speak to Sony.
So if sony wont change the firmware on the phone how/where can it be done?

I had the same question when I had my Vodaphone Live T610 before I moved to Canada.
Ok, here's how it is;
There is no way that any Sony Ericsson center will take off the Vodaphone Live stuff, as they have been given strict instructions by vodaphone not to do so.
Vodaphone also obviously will not do it. They will fob you off with excuses such as 'it will corrupt the phone' or 'go ask SE' or they will simply say they can't.
There are a few solutions on the web though, although it won't be free, it is very cheap (around 10 pounds). The process involves you having a data cable for the T610 and hooking it up to your PC. Then you download the software from the website, and purchase unlocking credits, which are used to unlock and unbrand your phone.
There are several websites that currently offer this. But i cant post them here, because every time I do it just gets taken off. So I've given up rying..sorry, youll have to go find them yourself.
Note though, these flashing methods have been very sucessful and widely used, but there still is a chance that it may arse up your phone, and void your warrenty, so use them at your own risk. Make sure you read the instructions before you flash anything.
I hope this clears this issue up a bit more.

I took my Vodafoneified phone to our local SE dealer and they upgraded the firmware for me, but the vodafone crap was still on there. I'm not sure if (or how!) it runs deeper than a firmware level, but it's most annoying. Also I couldn't find a way to get the stupid logos off the phone itself so I have sent the phone back complaining loudly. They are going to send me out one without the vodafone stuff on it...On Australian TV they actually advertise the vanilla T610 and it looks a lot nicer. The menus are so much more colourful and there is no stupid Live! button on the main screen. So I'm not sure if a firmware upgrade will do it, or if I was just upgraded with a new version of the vodafone firmware...

this might be a stupid question but, how can i tell if the t610 is a vodafone live branded phone or a normal t610 without the customisations you are all complaining about, without actually turning on the phone? does it come in different packaging?
see the thing is, i'm planning on buying the t610 tomorrow out right, but from a vodafone shop because they seem to have it the cheapest outright around my area. does the box come with vodafone written all over it?
thanks
GREG

The current A$0 T610 on the Vodafone 60 x 24 months plan is on the customised phone. In short, the customised phone only comes in Silver, has a Vodafone Live! logo on the front and back covers. And yes, it comes in a Vodafone Live! box with Vodafone Live! customised manuals. I got one delivered today and I was totally offput by the customisation and the Vodafone helpdesk wasn't too helpful in exchanging a generic one for me. I have since told them (and got them to accept) that I am returning the phone. Better to stick with my T68i than to use one with such ugly and unhelpful customisation.
