I seems to me the verizon has cracked down on emailing audio files to your phone, and will not allow mp3s or mp3s named with the midi extension. if anybody has figured out a new solution please let me know. |
wow wat a genius did u come up with that urself?? that has been said for like tha past 3 months....if the walmart way doesnt work...wich is pretty HARD to mess up if u dont follow the direcitons....then i dont know what will....

im pretty sure that verizon can detect that it is not really a midi file.
just by putting .mid at the end does not change the info of the file. you can still very easily pull out the mp3 info

no i followed the instructions exactly and it sent it to my phone, but converted it to a qcp file. just cause it worked for you doesnt mean its going to work for everybody.
also now, im not even getting the message that i email. do you have to use a email client like outlook or thunderbird?
also, has anybody gotten it to work through mac os x?

Go to walmart.com then to music section search for favorite artist or song then it will if you want play a 30 sec clip for you. All you have to do is right click on song you want then click "save as target" then rename whatever.mid. Then use your email and send it to your phone using area code number@vzwpix.com. Once it arrives play it save it as ringtone and whala it is now a ringtone. Still mp3 but works around verizon filter.
1. Ok, I followed your instructions, but it does not seem to work for me. I went to
http://musicdownloads.walmart.com/catalog/servlet/MainServlet
I right clicked on "Listen" for the song Candy Shop.
I clicked "Save as Target" to My Documents as:
File name: candy.mid
Save as Type: All Files
2. I went to my email service provider "Netscape mail". I attached the file from My Documents.
File name: candy
Files of type: All Files (*.*)
I emailed it to:
area code number###etc.@vzwpix.com (without spaces as indicated)
3. I received the emssage on my phone:
INBOX
Highlighted 'a music tone picture icon'
From: ........@netscape.net
I pressed enter or play. It came up "System error"
The same thing with "Save File".
Anyone's help is greatly appreciated. Thank you for your time.
