HI all my wife has a v266 phone and I got a 710. I can get the mp3 on my 710 but not her 266. I have Mobile Phone Tools and can get mid ringtones on her phone, and I can put mp3 ringtones, but when I access the ringtone it says that it is corrupt, this same ringtone works on my 710 so what could be the problem. Does the 266 support mp3 playback or only midi playback. Any help would be great appreciated.

Hi,
I successfully emailed myself a 20 second song. I tried to send another and the phone will say packet info (it's receiving the email) but then after about 15 seconds or so, the screen goes blank and then says no service. Once it finds service again, it tries to receive the file again. It's in this loop right now and my question is....is there any way to stop it from trying to get this email? Will it stop sending it eventually? Thanks in advance. I can't have my phone be losing service every minute.

Ok, this is for all of you V265 users with a USB data cable or something similar, this deffinately works for you. If you do not have the Mobile Phone Tools and USB data cable, then this still might work for you. However, I dont know if it will get filtered thru Verizon or not. I will tell you exactly how I did it and there may be simpler ways. I just started experimenting with these tones about an hour ago so there are numerous opportunities im sure to make it work. I downloaded a trial version of "Create Ringtone." It is a 15 day trial so after 15 days you may need to uninstall it and then reinstall it again to use for another 15 days. This is a small price to pay for unlimited ringtones. Once i got this downloaded, opened it up and chose an .mp3 file from my library and opened it up. I then chose about a 15 second clip. I then converted it to .wav file using an 8,000 KHz sampling rate and set bits per sample to PCM 8. Also, check to make sure it is converting to mono, not stereo. After it converts, make sure and save it as a .wav file not .mp3. Then go to the location you saved it and change the file extension from .wav to .mid. If you are using Windows XP (like me), open up a directory on your computer such as My Computer and go to Tools --> Folder Options --> View --> and then scroll down thru the list until you find a box with a checkmark beside it that says "Hide extensions for known file types." uncheck that box. Now, you should be able to easily change the file extension. Then go to your Mobily Phone Tools and click on the Multimedia tab and then I clicked on Mobile Phone Explorer or whatever the first choice is. Then, I simply transfered the converted song file to the audio folder of my phone. Go to your sounds folder on your phone, hit the menu button, and click apply as ring tone and you're all set! Like i said, I rushed through all of this and I am sure there are many variations to my idea so experiment and share what you find out!

I'm having the same problem. I know that mine is because my file was too big, but I was wondering if you figured out how to fix it or if it just stopped or what? Thanks!

I have a v266 with MPT and a usb data cable. When I transfer .mp3's to my phone they show up onthe list of ringtones but wont play. I encoded it at 24kbps at 22khz in mono. Its only 19 seconds long. When it comes to renaming it a .mid, I must be missing something. Simply renaming a .mp3 to a .mid I am pompted with a message saying that the file may become unusable (using XP), and sure enough the .mid wont even play in winamp and MPT doesnt even let me transfer the file. Not sure how anyone has gotten this to work.

Here is how I was able to install the "24" CTU ringtone on my v265.
I think these are the requirements:
1. It needs to be a bonefide MIDI file; simply renaming the file extension does not seem to be sufficient.
2. The sample rate of the file needs to be 22050 or less.
If the file meets these reqirements, you can send it to yourself using the vtext website www.vtext.com . Using the send pix function, upload the file then send it to yourself. When you get the file, the phone will recognize the file as "legal" and allow you to save it as a ringtone. But why dont they publish the requirements and procedures?
Good luck.

So, I have read this Motorola V265 thread days and days, and none of these techniques really work for me since I have MetroPCS (the suckiest of all phone services).. Anyway, is there some way I can get one of these tones onto my V266 (same phone basically)...
I have no idea what to do, Any help would be great, thx...

Thanks for the instructions about downloading a CTU midi file to my Verizon Motorola V265 using the Vtext send pix feature. It worked like a charm! Here's where I got my midi. http://www.ccir.ed.ac.uk/~jad/ringtone.html.
For some reason it doesn't work when I have it on Vibe & Ring, but it works great on Ring only.

I recently bought a motorola v265, and bought a program to make my own ringtones. The program works great but when i send the ring tones to my phone the get stored as sounds on my phone instead of ringtones! Does any one know how i can change sounds into ringtones???

I have the V265.
I was able to send myself one .mid music ringtone. I have tried multiple times since then and can no longer email myself the ringtones to use.
Can anyone explain as to why this could be happening?
