Adding mp3 files to your phone off an XP Operating System.
I'm assuming everyone who's trying to send the song to their phone and It's not working is using XP. Since XP doesn't let you change the extensions (song.midi.mp3 if you try and rename) you need to do it through the command prompt.
First of all, you need a sound editor to shrink your Mp3s in size and length. (I used soundForge) Save the file ( WITHOUT ANY SPACES) anywhere you want after you make it smaller.
Anyways, go to Start > Run > CMD (to open command prompt) then find the folder you saved it to. Type in rename song.mp3 song.midi (song is just an example, rename it to whatever you want ending in .midi
Then send the file to your phone through e-mail. example: 18052334592@vzwpix.com ... then give it a subject, then attach the file you saved. (song.midi) then when you get the "recieving pix message" pop up, then let it load the song, then press options, then press save sound. (you don't need to rename it). Then wallah, It's in your phone.
(those of you who get the errors "Unsupported content type audio/midi" need to resize the song to make it a bit smaller.)
I gaurantee if you follow the steps exactly, you will have a song on your phone. I hope this helps.
Please tell me how awesome I am, cause I took the time to help you guys out!
-- Get SoundForge off Bearshare, Limewire, Kazaa, or buy it.

I'm not sure, but i'd be happy to send mp3s to your phones if you want.

So i have Soundforge. When you say shrink the .mp3 in size and length, do you mean edit it down? Or is there a setting that literally compresses the mp3?
Also, how do you find the folder where you saved the edited MP3 using the cmd prompt? for example, you save it to the desktop...how do i access it from there?
The other question is where can i get the data cable from? How much will it cost? Which manufacturer is best?
Thanks,
W

To turn on file extenions in Windows XP, open up Windows Explorer (or find this menu another way, doesn't matter), Tools>Folder Options>View Tab > Uncheck "Hide File Extensions"
