You can change the GPRS text by seem editing or much easier with Motokit. The GPRS text (which is your carriers name by default) is what you see on the LCD 99.9% of the time.

xXXSamsungXXx, I actually changed it and it worked. However, my name took the place of the "date" field instead of "Cingular". I would still like to keep the date and edit Cingular. Anyway this is possible?

Really..? Worked for me.... try this seem edit, then use motokit to replace the GPRS text

Seem 0032_0001 offset 74 -bit 4: provider tag (checked) this should replace the carriers name with the date, then use motokit to replace the date witht your name (voila, no more carrier name)

Did exactly what you told me.

1) it shifted the Cingular and date to the left side of the screen. The Cingular and date text are still there.
2) went to MotoKit and changed the GPRS but it replaced the date as it did before.

Did I do anything wrong? Anything else I can do to replace Cingular with my name and still have the date and name centered as it is now?

I've been scouring around the countless pages and downloading every little program you guys offered and it's all great.

I just can't seem to get rid of the date by any means.
From the get go, it shows the provider and date. I can get rid of the provider but then the date stays even after editing the 01a8_0001.seem. I even tried all of the other seems that were suggested but to no avail. The date just stays in a wacky little left off-center. I can center it by putting back the provider and just edit the name by filling it in with blanks through the plmn_text_table.bin.
Is replacing the date possible in that fashion as well?

To my experiences, it seems that the 01a8_0001.seem does nothing at all when edited.

I must be doing something wrong.

you have to do some seem edit.

seem 0032 _0001, offset 4B, bit 6 unckeck. if that not work yet you may need to do this one also.
seem 0032_0001 offset 02 bit 1 uncheck
