So I've read all of these great reviews of the LG VX7000, but I've come across some major annoyances. Hopefully some of you may have some fixes.
1. The top and bottom borders of the screen are a bright red. It's not nearly as nice as the blue from the 6000. Actually couldn't you customize this color on the 6000? Can you do this with the 7000 and I am just missing it?
2. The most annoying thing to me right now is the front LCD. When plugged in, the screen backlight will not turn off. So it basically acts as a giant nightlight, since I charge my phone every night next to my bed. Is there a way to turn this off? The front LCD turns off after a while when not plugged in.
3. There are tons of customizations you can make with the 6000, they seem to be missing from the 7000.
4. The 7000 does not include a cradle charger.
5. Although there is no need to do so, they have changed the notches in the connector. The only reason to do this is so that you are required to purchase all new accessories if you previously owned the 6000. So my $70 hands-free vehicle charger set and $40 mobile office kit are useless.
6. The menu system is a step backwards from the 6000. It seems more clumsy and less polished, like the phone was rushed and they just didn't have the time to put together a nice menu or add the customizations available in the 6000. Evidence of this is the animated tabs in the menu. They are of such poor quality, that they shouldn't have even bothered to animate them.
7. If there a way to change the voicemail number to include my password?
8. What is the latest firmware version?
Thanks in advance.

ChadMG, i feel your pain...i also charge my phone near my bed, and have to turn the phone around to not annoy me by staying backlit...not only does that suck....but won't that fry the screen after awhile?
as for the top and bottom borders, i can care less what they are, but i do know that this IS a verizon specific phone and that the red is something of their choosing
cradle charger would have been nice, but im not complaining
im actually curious about what you say about the Data connection, seeing that all my friends have the 6000, and i just got the 7000, i was going to buy the cable to put ringers on all there phones.....but your telling me they are different connections?....they look the same?

You can add your password to your voicemail number. At the voicemail menu, press the left soft key and go to edit voice mail number. It should be: *86TTT#Password. The T's are for 2 second pauses, you place them there by pressing the right soft key. This setup dials the *86, then waits 6 seconds, hits pound for you and then whatever password you typed in.
You can use the 6000 usb cable by filing down the slotted portion of the fitting until it fits the 7000.
The latest software version is T70VZV08. Most Verizon stores will do it, takes about 20 to 30 minutes.
Lastly, sorry, there is no changing the red borders at the top and bottom.
Hope ths helped.

My annoyance:
This is my 3rd LG phone and the 1st that won't go happily into silent mode by holding down the * key (from vibrate mode).
WHY IS THAT?!

On my phone, holding the * key changes it from normal mode to vibrate mode. Vibrate is silent, there are no sounds.
