I am currently a Sprint user (Not unhappy with service). However, I travel internationally and I have a SIM chip and another phone for China and Hong Kong. My question is if anyone knows if the GSM network in China is the same as the GSM network in the US, and Europe? Also, I am planning to get the SonyEricsson 910. It has US/Europe/China versions. I only want one and need to chose the right one. Your help would be appreciated.

GSM is the type of network so to answer your question yes they all use the same network but they run off of different frequencies so you will need a tri-band or quad-band phone to make calls there. Also if you buy prepaid cards in that country you get good rates.

I know all about local calling cards as well as calling cards from Chinatown here for calls to China. What I want is to consolidate my phone/PDA Samsung i330 and my seperate China phone. I have SIM chips for China as well as HK. Sprint does not allow for this kind of phone. So I am moving to T-Mobile (Sony p910i). This way I do not have to change phones and still have all of my data in the phone.

Check the coverage locally first before you make the move over, T-Mobile offers the coverage map in which you enter the zipcode although the coverage maps at the retail T-Mobile stores and what the reps have a re much better
Make sure that the handset you are going to use with the sim card is already unlocked with T-Mobile they require that you have at least 90 days of active service before the request to get the sim unlock code can be given
Check to make sure that the handset you have can be used with the features that T-Mobile has to offer such as T-Zones that allows access to wap-based Internet sites at 4.99 per month unlimited although you’re given an abbreviated version only to download features (that you cannot transfer to another handset) at no charge to you.
Being that T-Mobile is owned by a Germany company the coverage abroad should be great the complete list of the countries that T-Mobile has a roaming agreement with, the GSM frequency when you click on the name of the service provider is on the website, sending and receiving text messages is at .15 each message
A reminder that phonebook information that you stored to the handset is not transferable check the sim backup by an unaffiliated website that offers a device that you place your current sim card in to store your phonebook information and placing another sim card in the device will transfer the information from the first sim card that you transferred the information
