Get this... an employee of Cingular for over 5 years, the company recently offered me a promotion "Manager of Network Operations", and moved me to Puerto Rico. Then fired me 3 weeks later for my failure to adapt fast enough and backed out of the relocation agreement. Direct decisions made by Cingulars' upper level management project the overall disregard for the diversity of individuals. Their baised scrutiny has cost me my home, my family, my possessions, and my sanity. Leave Cingular entirely, or risk continuous problems from a company that, at the end of the day, really does'nt give a damn about you.

For those of you complaining about customer service and big corporations of any kind, you should try working in the customer service field. It will undoubtedly change your opinion of the jobs these people do. I am speaking from experience. As a former customer service employee of Cingular Wireless, I can say that people who dispute things with no knowledge of what they're disputing are a complete pain in the ass. Customer Service Reps spend their days helping people solve their problems...it's their job. So next time you have a complaint...don't react before you think about it. Get it straight in your head exactly what you're complaining about...make sure you've looked at everything and understand what your problem really is. Are you calling because something on your bill is wrong and you'd like to get it fixed, or are you calling because you feel like you've been wronged, and by God, someone is going to pay? The former is the right attitude to have. If you are willing to let the person on the other end (who has been trained very thoroughly about the way it all works) explain everything to you and you are patient, they will more than likely be willing to work with you. It's just like any other relationship...give and take...work together...

Life would be much easier if everyone could look past their own situation and into someone else's. I'm telling you. Go get a job where you have to listen to people bitch, scream and yell all day...then see if you ever make a call to do the same. It will definitely change your perspective.

When I renewed my contract 4 months ago they promised to give a $10 a month rebate for my all in one billing with my BellSouth account. That has never happened, I have had to call every month and go thru a excercise in futility with a group of moron clerks, once I am able to get past the voice menu.
The service in my area leaves a lot to be desired with dropped calls, but
thats whats out here at the present time.[/b]

hey uh einstien thats an offer bell south offered you NOT cingular, so if you need to gripe about somthing gripe about bell south.

I feel cashdaddy's pain, I use to work for cingular wireless, was in customer service for two years and treated my customers fairly and honostly(yes I was the only one), anyway I was let go in sept of 05 after two years of service for of all things taking care of my 16 month old who was in the hospital, I filed their fmla forms but was denied, what i didn't know was I have a fmla form approved from a month earlier that would have covered me with my child, no one told me about this I didn't know this until after they showed me the door, but now my I am pretty sure my time to file a complaint with the union has come and gone and worse yet I am not able to retrieve that info seeing my computer i put it on died, if any current employees come on here who have dealing with the union please let me know if my time to file complaint is done, I don't want my job back I just want cingular to know that this is going on before some other person trying to take care of a family gets the boot for the same reason i did.

Thank you so much!!! I get calls in (work at a call center) and get it all the time it's because i'm _______ is why cingular is treating me like this.. umm!!! (and i deal with customers over/mail telephone) don't judge a person because they sound like their black, mexican, canadian, southern, white, yellow, green blue. how can you tell you can't see them. I see it as this it's all GREEN MONEY! they all got money in their pockets and they are potential customers or customers. like when i was a waiter other waiters would give me their tables of black people or bum lookin people and you know what i'd treat them just like anyone else most of the times i'd get hefty tips from them.

CINGULAR LOVES TO MAKE CUSTOMERS HAPPY TOO. JUST STAY AWAY FROM FRANCHISES AND CALL CINGULAR DIRECT. I ISSUE CREDITS ON A DAILY BASIS.

I really do feel your pain. You're getting screwed by Cingular, and so am I.

But the problem isn't Cingular. The problem is all big corporations. They just care about the $$$$$. They care about customer aquisition, NOT customer retention. You are just a number to them. If they lose you as a customer, you can be replaced by an ad campaign that draws in more customers. And since they're not concerned with keeping you as a customer, why should they spend their finances on quality customer service? Wireless customer service reps are among the least knowledgeble persons I have run across. They can help you with ANY question regarding billing (ie. they know how to help you PAY them), but when it comes to providing support for their service, the majority of the questions you ask go unanswered and/or dodged, or you simply get transferred from department to department until you hang up (or get hung up on).

Did you know that 40% of people change wireless service providers in a given year? Why do you think that is? Can you imagine another industry where this many people switch products or services this often? If, for example, 40% of people who bought a new car, got rid of the car in a year's time (and I'm speaking of buying versus leasing a car), what would that say about the car manufacturer? What would it say about the auto industry as a whole? Customer satisfaction surveys from J.D. Power and Associates score the wireless industry among the LOWEST in customer satisfaction.

I'm probably going to get nasty replies to this post from the wireless reps on the site, but I don't care. I'm simply vocalizing what myself and many others are feeling.

And harvard, since your contract ended, I take it you've gone to some other service provider? If you haven't, do some RESEARCH. Go online to websites like:

consumerreports.org (Consumer Reports -- membership required)
jdpower.com (J.D. Power and Associates)
cnet.com (Cnet -- check out their excellent cell phone buying guide)
cellreception.com (a great site where users rate cell reception by zip code, and you can also locate your provider's towers by city or municipality).

Hope this helps!

Hey, man use your brain for a second. For one big corporations got to be big for a reason, doing things better or cheaper than other companies. Second what are big corporations supposed to care about, they can't pay people in hugs and kisses and thank you cards, they run off money. Third if companies don't give good service then they lose potential costumers. And finally big corporations aren't the enemy they employ and fuel much of our economy.
P.S. I do not work of for the cell companies. icon_razz.gif
