Well thanks to this Web Site and the people that share information I finaly got my e mail setting correct and now I can send and recieve e mail from my Moto V551. I just upgraded from a Moto T720 and my provider could not give me the correct setting for e mail set up. I turned to you people and found the info quick. Thanks all. Here are the setting used. You will need to enter your ISP setting for your provider but it should work. I followed Daniel Y post from back in December.
ISP Setting: GPRS
Email provider: Custom
Protocol: POP3
User ID: [user id for my regular POP3 mailbox]
Password: [password for regular mailbox]
Sending host: [the SMTP for the regular mailbox might not work in all cases; try www.smtp.com $$]
Sending port: 25
Receiving host: [POP3 server for regular mailbox]
Receiving port: 110
Return address: [your return address]
Name: [your name]
Cleanup: None
Save on server: Yes
Notification: On
Check new msgs: No
Hide fields: [blank]
Auto signature: [blank]
Security: [blank]
Size restriction: 10240

Ok people, I've tried everything you have mentioned to setup the V551 to send email (especially with photos attached) and nothing worked. What you haven't mentioned is the built-in service provider within the phone. (earthlink, yahoo etc) I used the "Custom" option and tried using the ports mentioned and it didn't work. However, by using the "Earthlink" option I noticed that it changed the port settings. Using this with my earthlink email address and password it worked fine
ISP Setting: GPRS
Email provider: Earthlink
Protocol: POP3
User ID: [user id for my regular POP3 mailbox] In my case, my earthlink address
Password: [password for regular mailbox] for earthlink
Sending host: (automatically filled in when you select "Email Provider"
Sending port: 25
Receiving host: (automatically filled in when you select "Email Provider"
Receiving port: 110
Return address: [your return address]
Name: [your name or whatever you with to be displayed]
Cleanup: None
Save on server: Yes
Notification: On
Check new msgs: No
Hide fields: [blank]
Auto signature: [blank]
Security: [blank]
Size restriction: 10240
This works just fine for Earthlink!

Is there a reason that the IM settings questions are being ignored, or is it just that no one knows the settings?

Not sure if this is late, but here are the settings for AIM, which is checked thru IMAP:
# Create a new account with the following settings:
* IMAP (incoming mail) server: imap.aim.com.
* IMAP login: your AIM Mail login name (your AIM nickname; do not append "@aim.com").
* IMAP password: your AIM password.
* IMAP port: 143.
# Make sure SSL is not enabled for the newly created AIM Mail account in your email client.

I have tried everything on my Motorola V551 to do email. Nothing works. I can do my AIM. I have had this phone for almost a year. I have pictures on it I can not get off because the email will not work.
I think maybe it is time to just get a different phone.
