I just bought a motorola V551. I love the phone, but am having problems setting up the email. I have gone back and forth with cingular and aol and neither have been able to help. I believe my problem lies with the server settings (I've tried both the POP3 and SMTP settings).
Second, I am having trouble getting connected to AIM. I have an AIM screenname and such, and I can send messages to the phone and then reply, but I cannot review the buddy list, etc.
I am able to connect to the web and the Yahoo programs (yahoo mail and messaging), but I am an AOL user and would like to be able to use that feature.
Please help!

I have the same problem. Same phone. Same provider. Anyone able to shed any light on this subject? What do we need to do to set up email on the V551?
Thanks.

I had the same problem and called technical support. They helped me fix it.
This is what I had to do:
Go to Messages->Email Msgs
Hit menu key and scroll to Email Msg Setup
I had to change the ISP settings->Connection type from 'CSD' to 'GPRS'.
I also had to fill out all the fields in Email Msg Setup, including Name and Return address.
Then it worked for me.

I called Cingular and the tech support person I spoke to said "these settings are provided by the email provider" (not Cingular). We don't support...." Cingular is providing uneven service.
Can you provide a complete list? Thanks!

goto email setup >>>change your connection type From CSD to Gprs.
2.APN Address should be : isp.cingular
3. User name: ISP@CINGULARGPRS.COM
4. PASSWORD: CINGULAR1
5. DNS IP: 0.0.0.0
ISP SETTINGS: GPRS
EMAIL PROVIDER: Custom
Protocal: POP3
User ID: you@yourisp.com
Password: yourpassword
Sending host: photo.mycingular.com
the rest of the fields are your isp info fields
Make sure you have the multimedia works package put on the phone and a APN Data Plan. Other wise it will not work anyway.

Any difference between isp.cingular + isp@cingulargprs.com versus wap.cingular + wap@cingulargprs.com ? They both seem to work for email.
Thanks.

Does anyone know if these settings still work? I've tried both isp.cingular/ISP@CINGULARGPRS.COM & wap.cingular/WAP@CINGULARGRPS.COM combinations and neither work. I get an unable to connect message.
I have no problems connecting to AIM.
