I've had an LG VX6100 for about 3 weeks, and there is one thing that is very irritating about it. When I answer it, the volume is very low and I usually have to ask the caller to repeat the first line. Is this a common problem, or has anyone else experienced this? My daughter works for Verizon, my carrier, and said they have not had any complaints of this before. In fact, I'm on the second phone because the first one did the same thing. Since the second phone does it also, we figure it must be an inherent problem with the phone. If there is a fix, please let me know.

I've only had this phone for 3 days and I'm somewhat frustrated (thus my avatar, hehe) by this same problem. When somebody calls, I respond and I can faintly hear the other party for a second or two and then the volume goes back to normal. I, too, must ask the other party to repeat themselves. Usually, I find myself asking who's calling at least twice since they didn't hear me the first time.
Does anybody know what this is and how to fix it?
Auto volume is set to "off".
Thanks in advance and hope you all have a happy Thanksgiving!

Once again, I'm very new to this phone, so I don't know how many others have reported this problem. Upon further research, it seems like there are others that have noticed it as well:

Basically, they call it a "volume bug", but they're willing to deal with it. To me, it's still annoying, but then again, I've only had it a few days. I'd hate to think it's just something that I'd have to get used to, but the phone is so good, that I don't think I'd want to get something else.
If anybody does know of a fix, though, please share =)

The volume bug is a big deal to me. I spend a lot of time talking on the phone in my vehicle. With the superfluous noise already and having to contend with the bug, to me the phone a step above POS. My old LG 510 was alot better phone. Didn't have all the whistles and bells but I don't use most that anyway.
I saw on the above linked page something about new software eventually. How do I get it to the phone. I'm pretty ignorant on these, but I don't need to know much. It's just a communication tool for talking with my customers.

Well, I had Verizon send me a new phone and the same problem is occurring. Oh well, I guess it's just one of those (annoying) things I have to get used to. If somebody ever hears of a fix for this, please let us know.

I have an LG LX5550 model but you might be able to adjust the volume in the same way. I can go into my Settings menu and go to Sounds and then to Volume. From there I can adjust the Earpiece Volume. Another way I can adjust it is by using my side buttons while on a call. I can increase or decrease it while on the phone. I hope this helps some.
