You need to have one phone number programmed into your phone before you try transferring that data either direction using bitpim.

Why BitPim and DataPilot doesn't work with my VX 7000 phonebook ? It only imports 1 name in a very weird way. i.e: If my phonebook has 64 entries, it imports the same name (same contact) 64 times !
WTF is going on ?

I've done development for vivo and though I can't say specifically what your problem is, I can tell you vivo doesn't do anything standard or simple. One possibility is that the vivo vx7k uses the "isolatin" bytecodes for text characters, and i'd bet that bitpim is set up for use with unicode or ascii.
Coding for BREW (and specifically vivo, hehe) has forced me to intentionally forget as much as possible -- call it post carrier stress disorder -- so i can't be too much help. more info might help, though, like the specifics of the problem (ie what kind of data do you get back?).
peace,
