The Easiest Way to cancel is to have an account cancelled is to have someone call and say you are dead.....I am a T-Mobile CSR and if someone calls and says that, all I have to ask is if someone would like to take over the contract, but if not cancel it no questions...no death certificate or anything....
dont know about other providers though

wow i hate sprint so much with an extreme passion they are the worst provider ever! I took some of the provided advices to cancel my account w/out an early fee. I gave them an adress that has no coverage and i was so excited i thought i could finally get of of this garbage company. they said "sorry sir, but as of august 1st, Sprint doesnt wave early termination fees." I almost fainted. I must get out of this company and into tmobile a.s.a.p.

I really really hate sprint. what do i do now?
(and please dont reply as "just pay the termination fee" because its a 99.9% chance that its not happening.)

The answer is easy. I used to work for Sprint PCS. Then they closed are call center and laid-off 1,200 people.

They will waive the early termination charge for the following reason: If you move to an area that does not have Sprint PCS coverage they will waive your early termination fee. Check out the coverage maps, come up with an area that does not have coverage, and give them an address within that area and tell him your moving.

I hope this helps.

Can they charge you an etf if they don't have a signed contract. I renewed my service over the phone and just found out they want to charge me $600 (shared minutes times four phones) to terminate my contract.

Yesterday a friend mentioned to me that Sprint customers can get out of their contracts for FREE until October 30 since Sprint just increased their text messaging rates to $0.15. Apparently it says in their contract that you can cancel your contract if they raise the rates, but you have to do it within 30 days of the rate increase. The link below gives details in a news article.

It says to call 1-888-567-5528 to cancel. Good luck! I'm planning to cancel today or tomorrow.

I tried this and it didn't work for me. Sprint was kind enough to keep my text message rate at $0.10. She said I was granfathered in. Let me know if there are any other ways out of this. Sprint is the devil!!!!!!!!!

Hi,
I signed up with Sprint several years ago. I originally purchased my business cell, and later added an additional line under the family plan. The service has been horrible at my house and I asked Sprint many times to improve the service. However, they were unable to, so I have to switch providers. I called the Sprint helpdesk three times in September and October to enquire about the service and asked about my termination date. All three times, the representative indicated on my business line said that I could cancel at any time as I have fulfilled my obligations for that line. I switched that line to Cingular and the service has been terrific.

Unfortunately, after three verifications from Sprint that I could cancel my line, they changed their mind when I ported the number and slapped me with a $150 early termination fee and are refusing to remove that charge stating that my agreement does not terminate until December 29, 2006. I have voiced my complaint to Sprint, but they don't seem to care what the representatives on the phone said.

I am an employee of a very large customer of Sprint and I have started my complaint process through my company, However, I would like to resolve without having to escalate too high in either company.

Any advice on how to have Sprint stay true to the statements made by their representives and not charge the early termination fee?

Thanks

We had 3 phones with Sprint and rarely completed a conversation without the call dropping. Finally, we had enough, especially after trying to reach each other and the call not going through – even while standing next to each other. Sprint said they would open a ticket to correct the problem which affected any cell phone while in the home (meaning if you were in the house you could not receive a call from any of the other phones or place a call to them). This condition went on for an extended period of time.
We ported our numbers to another carrier since Sprint did not want to address the service issues.

We finally decided to terminate service after reading in RCR Wireless News (October 16, 2006) that: “Sprint Nextel raised the price of its text messages from 10 cents to 15 cents, which means that – because the carrier changed its service pricing – Sprint Nextel subscribers can cancel their contracts without incurring early-termination fees. Sprint Nextel said it increased the price ‘due to a rise in the cost of offering the service.’ You read that right – the price for mobile TV is falling but the cost of text messaging is on the rise.” …”the carrier pointed out that early – termination fees will only be waived for those customers who pay per-message for text messages; customers on text-messaging plans will not be able to get out of their contracts.”

We tried to get out of the contract because we were not on a text messaging plan and the Sprint representative said that they had notified customers for 3 months on their statement that their would be an increase. Consequently, the rep said that if we wanted to terminate service because of the price increase they would “grandfather” the 10 cent price (no early out). If you did not call to complain Sprint will just continue to charge you the new15 cents per message rate. The “grandfather” is their attempt to not allow ETF waiver by any means necessary.

The Sprint rep says that they have the right to increase their pricing. Only if a price change adversely affects an individual will Sprint waive ETF. We are adversely affected but they are still charging us ETF. Adversely affected? Any ideas other than moving to Alaska? Sprint – can you hear me now?
