I have a v710 through verizon. From what I understand (and i don't claim to be a guru), you don't HAVE to have a transflash card to put mp3s on the phone. You should be able to do it using the USB cable. However, that is:
1) easier said than done ( I still can't get my phone to connect to my PC) and
2) not able to hold many mp3. from what i understand, the phone itself has 10MB of memory. by using a transflash card, i now increased my memory by 128MB. However, in order to use an mp3 as a ringer (you can play mp3s just to listen) , it has to fit within the 10MB on the phone. I really wanted to be able to have a different mp3 play for each person in my phone book, but since i am limited by 10MB, its not possible.
You also have to copy songs over to to phone's mem in order to use them for alarms, notifications, etc.
Hope this helps.
Also, the transflash card ran me about 30 bucks, but it comes with a SanDisk adapter in order to put into a memory card reader. the transflash card is only about the size of your fingernail.

bigd_15442.
What is exactly the problem that you have encounter of trying to use MPT with your phone? if you would be alittle more detail may be we can help.
As for mp3 for ringtone you need ADACITY or MP3 CUTTER to cut it down to 25 second cuz any longer than that would taking up space for nothing cuz voice mail is kick in after 4 rings?

I believe this is correct. I purchased Mobile PhoneTools and the USB cable and found that the ability to upload/download media files is not enabled for the V710. If anyone knows how to change that, please let me know.
The backup alternative is to copy the media (ringers, photos, video) from your computer to a memory card (in the proper directory), then insert the card into the phone and copy the media from the card to the phone memory. I've not tried that with all media types, but photos and video work fine using that procedure.
Also, please note that SanDisk TransFlash cards are considerably cheaper if not purchased through Motorola. You should be able to find a 128mb card for under $30 through the internet.

Go to the Media Gallery and select the Sounds options. Press the Menu button and choose Switch Storage Device, then select the meory card.
You should then see the list of MP3s on the memory card. Select an MP3 and press the Menu key and choose COPY in order to copy it to your phone.
If you do not find any MP3s listed on the Memory Card, you may not have placed the MP3s in the right directory on the memory card.
Hope that helps.
