Hi, I have had both of the two major CDMA carriers, Sprint since 1993 and VZW since 1996. Both have been awesome to me in the way of customer support and service. I fly frequently, and I have never lost EVDO on my LG Dare while cruising at 36,000 feet in a 737. I have tryed Cingular, both before and after the ATT buyout, and had nothing but problems. First of all there was the problem with activating the SIM, which I still don't like GSM because of security purposes. Anyway, when I finally got the SIM active, I had almost no service anywhere, even New York City and Chicago, both of which are 100% 3G and I never picked up a single 3G signal on my V3XX, I find it funny that ATT says "More bars in more places", when I have yet to have a better signal on my ATT phone than on my VZW or Sprint (VZW- Dare Sprint- RAZR V3M) I plan on buying the instinct for my Sprint line soon. I'll post my review of that later. =)

Ok - I may be a little late on some of this but i read though this and I couldnt help but comment. First of all on the very first post, sim card? who cares, yes every single GSM/TDMA uses sim cards. They are old technology. TDMA "Time Division Multiple Access| has extreme limitations in its bandwidth and thats why CDMA has taken over and why VZW/Sprint are much faster. Code Division Multiple Access is able to carry more information at once by breaking it down into binaryand now with digital "All phones are digital now, any that arent will stop working in 3 months. AT&Ts claim "fastest 3G network" its a crock. They had to get a new technology that cannot be adapted into their current TDMA crap network (EDGE is the fastest thing on GSM/TDMA which is only 3 times faster than dialup just about) so they are limited to a few little tight cities. VZW's evdo was converted on all towers in the nationwide access. Now, drive down a random highway and you are STILL on evdo. HSPDA has a long way to go, and likely will never be anyhting because there is already a new technology Verizon is looking into that will pass it by. As usual, VZW is one step ahead of AT&T and T-Mobile. as for the phone book issue with SIM cards, VZW offers FREE backup assistant that backs all your numbers up to a server with the easy click of a button. you can retrieve them online or download to a new/replacement phone anytime. VZW and SPrint phones are less likely to be stolen as well because they are forever locked by the MEID if reported stolen. Report a ATT phone stolen and that doesnt do anyhting. Joe the Plumber can pick it up pop his sim in and waa la he got a new phone. ATT will learn as its trying to use WCDMA and not tell anyone because it knows its old news and bad coverage. I had them, hated them, and will stick with my VZW thank you
Technology wise, sprint has always been the front runner. period. verizon is even backing the gsm standard for thier 4g. big mistake. thier 4g won't even begin market testing for another 4 to 6 years. sprint has already began market testing thier 4g and expect i nationwide roll out by the end of 09. That's 4 to 5 years before lte begins market testing. oh, and good job reviving this thread. i like mummys

Just a reminder, Sprint did lose about 27 billion dollars at Q4 of 2007, and the company wasn't even worth that much. That means the company lost more than it's worth, in a matter of a few months. So hopefully for the company's sake you're right about the technology improvement, it's the only shot they have.
Actually the company is still worth upwards of 50 billion dollars. when a company posts loses it doesn't mean they lost that much net worth. it means they lost revenue in that area. what many of you forget is while post paid is losing money, their virgin mobile and boost mobile prepaid subdivisions are the top two prepaid services in america. and they are steadily growing and rapidly at that. i believe prepaid is the way to go, just like europe. ending the need for contracts. there is going to be a wireless revolution in the states. even thier 4 g data service will be no contract net 30 service. sprint is looking towards the future, and still leading the way in innovation while they do it. that is why i stick with sprint. they aren't afraid to change thier business models to suite todays needs, unlike antique company's like att who hate change and will hold on to thier antique business models as long as they can.

"Verizon to deploy its LTE network in two U.S. cities this year" as posted at phonearena.com. In addition there is another post reading "Sprint posts $1.6 billion Q4 loss", which is better than the previous year. Good on ya Sprint.
