I don't know any provider specific answers. You will have to ask them yourself I'm affraid.
I do know how GPRS works ( well the basic ).
The main difference between GPRS and standard WAP ( 'cause GPRS still stays WAP ) is that GPRS works with packages as normal WAP works as if you where going online with a normal ISDN modem.
The advantage of GPRS is that you don't have to have a direct connection all the time with your provider. All the packages are send true the GSM network, not directly from your phone to the ISP server. So you normally only get charged for the packages you send. ( for example €0.1/1kB )
I say normally because some providers have special GPRS packages, wich take the advantages of GPRS totaly away. Instead of letting you pay per package (kb/bytes) they set restrictions like for Pay&Go Belgium for example €0.50 per 100kB/hour. So the moment that you go into the next hour or reach the 100kB of send packages you get charged another €0.50. If you for example only then use 5kB in one session ( the first hour get charged €0.50) and then the next hour you do the same transaction you get charged again. ( that make €1 for 10 stupid kB )
Take all the advantages of GPRS away and it is thievery in my opinion.
So before you are going to use GPRS first check with your provider how he handles charges for GPRS traffic.
I hope when UMTS becomes actively used that GPRS will be used as it was meant to be, per package and not with those stupid thievery restrictions.

I think your question could be "What is the difference between Circuit Switched Data (CSD) and GPRS."
Circuit Switched data is like a dial up modem on your PC, everytime you want to get something the phone has to dial a number as such. GPRS is like DSL, always on always ready and faster. With CSD you're noramlly charged by the minute whereas with GPRS its a mb d/l amount.

I agree with Jeff.
I don't know how is it in Engaland, but all Polish operators let you talk and stay GPRS connected.

You cannot compare the diff between GPRS and WAP, because they are diff things. In GSM, GPRS and CSD are bearers, and WAP, MMS etc are services. Any service can work either on CSD bearer or GPRS bearer.
If you have GPRS connected constantly, you will be charged only by actual data volume (KBytes) are sent and received, not by time you are connected. And the battery also discharged only if the actual data is transferred.
Depending on the class of your mobile equipment, you are able to make a call or not while in the GPRS secssion. If your mobile is class A - you can, if your mobile is class B - you cannot.
Sorry for my bad english.

hscsd is high speed circuit switched data.
If there is no modem option u cannot surf the net on ur pc using the cell phone as a modem(obvious).

The Nokia and Cingular people will tell you yes, but the drivers they supply you with will not work. I found a driver that enables the Nokia 3100 modem capabilities for the CA-42 cable. You have to go to the Nokia-Asia site and select the second version of the CA-42 cable install file.
