I have a V600 I bought from Cingular here in the USA, and I'm trying to figure out the best way to unlock it.
I'm assuming that unlocking the phone will also remove the software restrictions Cingular has added that take away some of its best features. Is this wrong? I rarely go outside North America, so the option to use foreign SIM cards really isn't that important to me.
Some Googling finds a lot of sites claiming to allow you to unlock a V600. Some claim you can just send them your IMEI number and they'll send you an unlock code. Some require you to mail the phone in and have them unlock it with a hardware dongle? Is there a difference?
Also, if anybody has unlocked their V600 and has had a good experience with a particular company (hopefully one in the US), let me know.
Thanks,
Chris

There are few way to unlock you fone.
IMEM# method. Using programe to caculate the unlocke code for you, Ater recieve payment from you then they will send amn email out with the link to a site that you can d/l the info loge by using data cable to hook up your fone to PC and run that . Then send the loge with contain binary # to them they caculate and email you back the code to unlock.
Using a smart clip is a device that link up to your fone and it will go in th the firmware and change a couple bits enought to unlock you fone . Thisa method require you to send the fone to them.
Flashing and Flexing is to repplace the fone with better firmand software in the process you have unlock the fone, but is got some pro and cons, you may gain new hiden function or featur and loose some. but most dangerous thing of all is if you don't know what the hec you are doing you can kill your fone.
The first two step are the safest , will not alter or change or damage your fone in any shape or form. Remote unlock will cost $25 to$45 plus you have to byu acable which add $10.
Smart clip method is $10 to $15 and you have to pay for postal to send it out add another $7.
Here is your deal Pay for postal service, send your fone to me and i will use smart clip to unlock it for you free all you have to do is pay for the postal round trip which my guess is $15 total.
That is if you dare to trust the Old_Fool enouhgt to do this sa i'm crazy enought to do it for you free .
But if you need referral email me

But a firmware upgrade "might" add new features, correct?
I see you have a Cingular V600 with reflashed firmware. Did you get more features back? I'm especially interested syncing and transferring applications over Bluetooth.

I am using the E9 flex. This software gave me aol, im, engineering menu. Prior to my flex, the phone has sync. Also, the menu settings may alter a bit, you will notice some of the features that was there now its gone. You can always offset the seems to enable the feature back. It is located in the bT menu. Does yours not have that right now?
Look in the tutorial section for some how to threads.

I have a "Sync" option in the Connection menu, but there is none in the Bluetooth menu. The Sync in Connection only lets me sync over the web at $.01/kb, which adds up after awhile.
