Will it still work if I take my ATT (merged with Cingular recently) SIM card out of my ATT Samsung X426 & put it in a Cingular Samsung X427? Best Buy has the Cingular X427 for $50 this week and my X426's screen is starting to fade. Thanks.

From what I've read on these forums, it should work if the two are both GSM phones and use the same frequencies (850, 1800, 1900, etc.) and if you can unlock the Cingular phone. I'd also be sure you don't have to sign up for new service in order to get the discount.

Thanks for info, I heard that the X426 and X427 are practically identical phones. I am just concerned that the Cingular X427 will not read or will damage my ATT SIM card. I also read elsewhere on this forum that the X427 is unlockable. I will have to do more research.

Iceman,

It will work fine. Cingular phones are unlocked - at least for now.

Hi, I have a similar problem. Because we are in the southeast we are stuck with suncom.

My son wants to use his samsung x426 (from ATT) with suncom but it is locked and i'm told the big companies won't help. What can I do to get my son's phone back?

Thanks!

If you give a man a cellphone that you have unlocked, he can use that one phone(hopefully he will get it back). If you teach a man to unlock, he can talk on any phone, now, and in the future and he can unlock all his families' phones as well!
