Does anyone know if Verizon is going to offer the Moto v260/262 anytime soon? Both Mobiledia and PhoneScoop say this phone is supposed to be available during Q4 2004, but my local Verizon store doesn't know anything about it. Any Verizon service reps out there have any answers?

Are the v260/v262 phones the same as the v265, except without the v265's camera?

I haven't sseen the V262 but V260 is basically the same phone without the camera, and buttons have a different color.
Verizon is not selling either V260 or V262, only Radio Shack seems to have the V260.

I have a Motorola v262 phone with Alltel.
I do have a question though if I can ask it here. Is there a way on the v262 phone to get the 4 icons on the main screen to go away? I mean, you can still get to the main menu by pushing that top center button so I was just wondering. Thanks! Andrew

If anyone has any info on USB data kit drivers I would also be interested.
They guy at the Alltel store sold me a data kit for the v60c/v60i/... and said it would work for my v262. It works great on my wife's v60i but the cd does not include the drivers for the new v262 and I can not seem to find them anywhere on the net. (I looked all the way to then end of the internet then turned around and looked again on my way back. ) I call the guy and he said, "Oh yeah they just told us that the drivers for that phone where not on the cd." Well, duh the box has been sitting in your store for months/years and the phone just came out this month.
Any way, USB data kit driver info for XP/2000 on the Motorola v262 mobile phone would be great!
Here's some info on the data kit I have:
MFG Part# S8951
Alltel Part# MDASM06
Compatable: V60c/V60i/P270c/120e/T720

I just Got a V262 from Alltel last week and ordered a data kit from cellularaccessory.com earlier this morning. I found it using froogle.google.com to search for "v262 data kit" They offer it for $34.95 + shipping and it includes the usb data cable and version 3.0 of the software CD. If you already have the software, maybe try downloading an update from Motorola to see if it will work with your phone.
Back to the original question, it appears that the V262 is mainly being offered by Alltel, not Verison. You might check with a verison rep to see what technology the phone has to have to be compatible with their network. The V262 is a tri-mode 800/1900 CDMA 1x phone. As stated previously, it does not take pictures, but can display pictures received or downloaded to it with a data kit

Sure, press the menu button, go to Settings, Personalize, Home Screen, Home Keys, Icons, Select Hide. I personally prefer to have them showing though so I have some idea what I have the shortcut set to though.
