Howdy All,
I'd love to say that I have the secret but alas even though I have MPT kinda working, I stiil go through a half dozen error messages before I can pull it up and sync.
I bought the a non-OEM BT Dongle w/software (BlueSoleil) from one Ebay site and the MPT software from another. The BT dongle w/software worked fine and I was able to link my V551 phone and Moto HS850 headset to it just fine. But that was all it did, and I wanted to also use my phone as a wireless modem for my laptop, so I bought the MPT ver 1.23 from Ebay (~$6.00).
Then the nightmare started!
I first tried to just load MPT software following the Ebay sellers instructions. Big waste of time.
Then uninstalled everything and reinstalled BT dongle via win-XP ME and it loaded it up OK, and my computer said the modem was working, but no programs could find it.
Then uninstall everyhting again and installed just MPT, then used live-update to get to MPT ver 3.23, but it could not find my phone and installed a T720i skin, which doesn't have Pic's & Vid's so that was no good.
Then uninstalled everyhting again, used sys restore to go back prior to first BT dongle install and started over.
This is the order that got me working:
1. Install MPT ver 1.23 using default selections (BVRP Format <New File>)
2. Say no to registration now question ie register later. do not start program.
3. Install MPT ver 2.21b, which is included in Ver 1.23 zip file.
4. Again say no to register now question, but go and let computer do a restart.
5. After restart, open MPT, as you have not connected your phone it will look for it and not find it, but generic skin will open up.
6. When generic skin opens, select "menu" then "setup" then click on live update.
7. My computer got six upgrades before it got to MPT ver 3.23, which meant six restarts. But eventually it made it all the way there.
8. after MPT ver 3.23 has loaded and no new updates appear, do one final restart.
9. Now connect your BT dongle and let windows install their XP dirvers.
10. after your phone appears in th win BT divice windowm, then start MPT program.
11. I had to do a passkey link but it eventually pulled up a phone that kinda looked like mine and I was able to transfer files.pic's & vid's back and forth, and that also worked in 3rd party applications.
Now I still can't get my laptop to use my cell phone as a modem, but everything else works that I am aware of.
I hope this helps somebody, as it sure was a pain in the assers for me!

So did anybody every figure out how to fix this problem. I was able to connect to my phone one time and one time only. I was wondering of it was the phone because I took my old V600 and hooked it up and it connected just fine and was able to download files and pics easy. But not with the V551. It's becoming a pain to deal with.
